Solus 4.1 -Fortitude- Budgie Edition DistroTube One the distros that I often put on my laptops has been Solus Budgie. I have found Solus to be a polished and stable distro. Version 4.1 of Solus was just released. How does it measure up? - https://getsol.us/2020/01/25/solus-4-1-released/

Light theme are actually much less stressful to the eyes. They are less sensitive to reflections, for one, using a dark theme in summer is just asking for trouble, so the first downside is that users tend to lower the light to be comfortable, bad for reading anything else. The contrast is also much better and the eye is not dazzled by few highly-light pixels lost on a black background. Dark theme are just a slight aberration that came as a hype. They do have an appealing look, so it's understandable, I use them sometimes just for that reason ;)

I have never heard anyone share a GOOD reason why Solus is bad. Some people have things they mention as -problems- or -dislikes-. For example some people are like -I don't like the package manager. so I'm not gonna use solus.- Ok fair enough....but with the availability of things like snap, or flatpak what's the issue? Then some other people are like -It doesn't have included. So because it doesn't have that ONE package I'm not going to use it.- ......um....ever heard of installing from source? lol

I have reviewed Solus 4.1 two days ago and agree with you. There is a significant improvement towards 4.0. I had problems with 4.0 when I used it a few months ago, with random desktop freezes that have left me hanging when I needed the system to work. I have reported the bug. No such problem in 4.1 so far. And other improvements have been implemented following the demands from the community. Solus is flying!

Can anyone help in fixing the non-working touchpad issue? When I plug in a mouse, it works perfectly, but as soon as I disconnect it, the cursor disappears, the touchpad is not working. I tried to do fresh installs many times, doing the updates after that but nothing helped, yet I so wanna use Solus, as otherwise it is my favorit distro yet.

I'll say this for Solus, it is wicked fast. Sleek. Nice. I ran into a bug in the graphical update utility, but the command line worked fine. There isn't support for my particular scanner, so I've gone back to Manjaro. But Budgie continues to be amazing to me and I'll stick with it.

speaking of the terminal I just figured out that I had to Edit a keyboard short cut to something else for something as a key was the same as a game I play so the game was hard to play properly . Been on Linux for a while and did not how to do till now. still a newbie

I've used Ubuntu for 6 years and loved it, the last two years I tried several distros, the bests are Mint, Elementary and MX Linux (already in my machines), but my production machine runs Solus. It's fast, stable, great workflow and is elegant and distinct...

This is why Linux community makes me laugh, regardless of the fact that I'd really like Linux to become mainstream.
Reviews a distro - spends the majority of the video entirely on the looks of the OS. Wow, you can change a wallpaper! How useful.

Worst part about Solus installation is that they dont update the iso's and they dont update packages on installation which is why it installs do fast.
Right now if you install Solus you have over 300 package updates. Its silly.

What about printer and scanner support? I looked at Solus a year or so ago and could never get it to find my HP printer/scanner. I liked Solus back then but no printer was a deal breaker so I went back to Ubuntu instead.
