As a contributor on SUMO (Support Mozilla - support forum Firefox browser) I always get angry about all this talk about privacy, not wanting to be tracked etc.. I think it's mass hysteria. What are these people afraid of ? Are they wanted by the police ?
I want to be tracked; it gives me adequate search results, the best search results.
I have nothing to hide - the only thing I make sure sites can't access is my bank account and PIN
The mailman knows my name and address; my bank's personnel, supermarket personnel, all kinds of organizations know my name and address (and way more) - I look at my browser and search engine the same way: they may know everything about me (but my bank account and PIN).
I use an adblocker (ABP) because I find these ads annoying, but I -allow acceptable ads- because I feel kinda guilty blocking every ad (hard working people deserve to get paid).
I could go on and on, but I'll shut up now, cause I'm sure that hardly anybody here will be on the same page .....

I'd appreciate your opinion as I'm stuck on making a tough decision. I'm looking for an optimal web browser set up for maximum online privacy. I'm debating which of these 3 options is best. The first option is using 4 different web browsers, 1 for each (email, banking, shopping and general web browsing). Option 2 is using Firefox exclusively and having 4 different user profiles set up. Option 3 is to use just 1 Firefox user profile and create -containers-. I love firefox and really prefer option 3 best then option 2 because it would be great using 1 browser. However, I'm thinking it will not offer the most security against fingerprinting and tracking. I'm new to all this and would greatly appreciate your suggestions!

I use firejail together with firefox.
Firejail is independent of firefox and you can use it with any tool or app you launch to restrict the app or tool to only allow the things it needs to do and nothing else.
Please, Derek, have a closer look at Firejail. it is truely a very handy tool to jail about anything. you can also check what is running inside a jail.

I just wanted to add here that blocking all ads should not be the goal, as ads finance many good projects that we would hate to see disappear. The goal is to block personalised ads and however those ads were personalised. Please do not get so paranoid as to block all ads. This can have effects we do not desire.

To be fair to Chrome in the sense of security, Chromium is open source and forms a very large portion of the Chrome codebase. That code is constantly audited by 3rd parties since the code is used on Chrome and so many other web browsers based on Chromium.

Philip K. Dick's - Null0 : (my translation from memory) - perfect paranoid being, devoid of morality, guilt or human feelings, perfectly logical, nothing will stop it from vivisecting poor Firefox innards to feed it's curiosity :)

Excellent!
I've already implemented all of your suggestions except for Privacy badger.
One question:
I use Avast Online Security/WebRep extension which blocks trackers; How does it compare to Privacy Badger?

I have a separate installation of Chromium just for Microsoft Teams. Not only does Teams force third-party cookies down your throat, it's also mandated by my province for literal children.
