I use a gnome extension that retrieves a daily wallpaper from the web. In fact, it is a Linux program that provides the Windows daily wallpaper for my geographic area.
Microsoft is generous to make it available to both windows, Linux and other software companies.
Prior to finding this gnome extension,. I wrote my own wallpaper presenter. First I hashed all the names of my wallpapers so that when I sorted those hashed names, my wallpapers are presented in some kind of random sequence. I also used the number of seconds since -1970 1 1- (Linux birth) and divided by the number of seconds per day, arrived at a count of days since 1970 1 1
If I modulo that day count by the number of wallpapers I have collected, I am never able to run off the end of my list.

Hey, Derek, thanks for all the videos, been a great resource for going more into arch (alongside the wiki of course).
One thing I was wondering about, which I've struggled to find resources about, is how one goes about setting default applications and system themes so to speak when using tiling wms. Started tinkering with qtile now, and the default theme is then light as opposed to when running Cinnamon. Would you be able to point me to the right place to fix stuff like this, or could the setup of programs etc in a new tiling wm be a video idea? Keep up the great work!

No one ever mentions Variety! It's the best, all kinds of fresh wallpapers daily. Nasa stuff and the works. Variety works great on every distro I've tried, even Enlightenment. It has a great scrolling selector that allows you to select a wallpaper, delete one, and save to a favorites folder. Highly configurable, you can add your own urls as sources of pics.

I have some issues regarding installation of UBUNTO& ARCH Linux.I download both distros from their official websites but:Arch Linux is stuck at -root-while booting.In Ubunto,It is held usually and after sometime there is none of installation. It has happened 3/4 times.What should I do?

i want something like this, with just one more function - periodically changing the wallpaper.
i use mint and the default has that option, but sets the same wallpaper on both of my monitors, instead i want periodically to change the wallpapers, but to use different wallpapers on the different monitors.

Here's a question: Why change the wallpaper to begin with? I haven't changed my wallpaper from default in over a decade. I just don't understand this need to change the wallpaper periodically. If anyone thinks they can explain it, feel free. I'll be reading your explanation.

started i3 window manager on my fedora, seen so many rice, can someone tell me how to set the gap around the focus window, i mean you can see the wallpaper all around the corners of the current focused window, i want to achieve that on my i3wm, can someone help me?

I LOVE nitrogen! I've been using it for about a month now when I first setup Arch Linux. It's pretty slick especially with multiple monitors. Really simple to use!

Who the heck uses feh as an image viewer?
Very efficient to set wallpaper with though - provided you don't change it often.

Looks nice, but I still prefer Variety to download and change the wallpapers automatically. It came by default with Arco Linux.
