Gnome should also be cancelled because it's a bad DE. (maybe I should remove GDM and other Gnome-related stuff that I don't need- because I can't trust them anymore).
Actually, I have a little problem with the word -cancel- because it's often -their- way to act, and I don't want to be like them
(sometimes, I said -cancel culture should be cancelled-), but perhaps sometimes it's appropriated, I can't decide now.
At least I disagree with cancelling GRR Martin, JK Rowling, RMS and many other.
And the fake feminism and fake anti-racism takes truly too much power.

But I understand your arguments, and as a 3/4 white -male- (actually I don't feel like a men, but I don't care about how people call me), I feel very offended. Some of my black ancestors were slaves because of they skin color-
BUT now, I'm only attacked for my white part, or because I'm a -male-. Even if I'm saying something to defend some minorities (but not -the right way- in their opinions) I can be treated like a harmful guy, and I can't prove them anything with logic or science because it's -white / men thought-.
We can't just shut up people because -with your color you can't understand racism / anything-, and treat them as people who could never understand. It's like irrefutable statements, used in some (all?) pseudosciences.

Does this restrictions prevent us to make a copy of Gnome project with non-racist licence?
If so, ok, we can't call it -free software- anymore.

I've always wondered why GNOME is against any customization possibilities and why they are constantly pushing their only way how we should use a computer. Now when knowing that the GNOME organization is so heavily penetrated by the entitled political activists, it's much more clear to me... It's just in their core to push everywhere the only allowed way of thinking, or in case of GNOME how we should use a computer without any customization. I always had a feeling they are constantly changing their API to just break the extensions, and probably the feeling is not very far from truth.

shouldn't we all just be using the desktop enviroment that works best for what we are doing, eg. using gnome if on a touchscreen or using mouse-centric workflowws, xfce for a simple out of the box experiance, kde for good looking, window managers for more advanced users, etc. there is no point stopping using a particular piece of FOSS software due to politics, as other projects certainly have similarly racist individuals, where gnome might just have a different level of organization of responsibility for blog posts etc.

As someone who supports and love the software Gnome makes and is someone they call a -marginalized- person in their CoC. This CoC has to end. It is a shame, especially for free software, hackers making software for the good of all. Those people who put this CoC in place do not code, they are a disgrace to the community and it was long enough that the larger Gnome Community allowed those people to put something like this CoC in place.

Man... do you really think this is just a GNOME thing? This bias in judging what is what and what not is EVERYWHERE and the Linux FOSS community is just as affected as everyone! You can blame Micro$oft for buying Github and adding more of that, but the harm was already done before that when entire countries such as USA changed their mindset and laws accepting fallacious premises.

The -problem- with your argument against Gnome is that they feel like it's not possible to be prejudicial towards somebody who is white, cisgender, male. So nobody will get out their pitch forks for Gnome and in their mind their not hypocrites because -you can't be racist against a white person.- Dangerous mentality, but it is what it is.

I'm white with blue eyes and live in Japan. Anyone non-Asian who moves to Japan will experience some form of racism. While I agree that pressure needs to be put on anti-white supremacy groups like the Proud Boys, but Gnome politics seem to be unfair and go against the Open-Source spirit. Sigh no more, bye bye Gnome.

Anyone ever look up how whites are treated in south Africa? ... just putting that out there that we are on the brink of genocide there. whites can no longer by land or property unless married to a black south African. they are probably the most racist country out there at this moment and that is very sad.

Free and open source software should be out of politics, sides, nationalities and groups. It's about the code, whoever you are. Write good code and be nice with each other.
