Do you plan on diving deeper into xmonads layouts? Not just adding a layout, but building layouts, and sublayouts.
I tried adding tabbed as a sublayout and it did not go great lol.
Also wanna say thanks for shilling xmonad. It is truly one of the best. dwm has some nice things, particular niche patches (like swallowing that everybody won't shut up about). But xmonad is so nice. Idk anything about Haskel and I've configured a nice setup easily (although haven't figured out sublayouts as previously mentioned).

After the video about the bad GUI and how command line is outdated, I'm looking for modernized combinations of GUI and CLI that show that the command line interface is not stuck in the 80's. We are still looking for better and more efficient interface and already have some interesting solutions that old CLI and modern GUI don't have. That's why I find the world of window managers so fascinating. There is a lot more freedom and if someone has an interesting idea, it's easy to implement.

Could probably read .desktop files and make what is essentially a launch menu you can find in more conventional desktop environments. But then, you can also just use a prompt or dmenu, so not much point.
Still, if you ever need to put a bunch of stuff in a menu, this would be a good way of doing it. I feel like submaps are a more efficient way of achieving this tree-like menu, though (without the eye-candy, I guess)

I can see tree select being a really useful alternative to dmenu. Sometimes I forget the name of the program I'm looking for, but if for example I was able to search a custom tree like Image Processing -> Vector editors -> Inkscape , that would be pretty cool. As far as using it as a workspace switcher, wish I could help you out man, my haskell skills are pretty weak compared to my python dude.

Hi DT, I may be going off topic over here, but in your opinion why do you currently use XMonad over AwesomeWM. Is it due to the fact that it is easier to configure or is it because XMonad is more hackable compared to AwesomeWM?

Nice find! I've been wondering about making different workspaces for different monitors. This TreeSelect looks quite interesting.
