Nice summary. So many of the distro reviews focus on superficial aesthetics rather than functionality. You did a good job of highlighting the stuff that matters although you missed a few key things like fractional scaling. To non-Linux geeks, a big part of the appeal of Mint is the depth of the GUI tools and apps. Some users can avoid ever opening a terminal window which is more than you can say for most other distros. Mint also tends to be more stable than many other distros and gives you the tools, like Time Machine, to help a novice recover even if something does go wrong.

All these Linux names making my head spin. Ulyana Cinnamon Matte...
Question though, whats Mint's response when a program/app freezes or hangs?
--With Windows we got the annoying window getting whiteout then you gotta wait for the buffer cursor to click for Windows to finally figure out its not responding you press Stop the program and Windows replies Waiting for program to respond and then you press Cancel and FINALLY Windows acknowledges you want the program to end NOW. How is it with Mint?

I love Mint. But I use Mate instead of Cinnamon. I installed it on my XPS developer's edition and seems to work great. I am not excited about the fonts in the desk bar, I've found a snag using light wallpapers while using transparent desk bar. Other then that Mint 20 seems fantastic. I don't tend to like Snaps so I am glad that isn't enabled. It's just bloat and a vector for viruses. I got away from Windows to get away from the bloat and insecurities after all.

The whole controversy about snaps is that Ubuntu was forcing snaps and lying about it.
All linux mint wanted to do was give you the choice back on whether or not you wanted snaps.
In ubuntu 20.04 or later if you -sudo apt install chromium- it quietly in the background installs the snap version,
which is clearly not what you wanted or you would have typed -sudo snap install chromium-.

I guess this is some kind of signal.
2020 says: -This the end of days.... So why you don't try Linux? Here, have some Linux Mint Cinnamon-.
Maybe a Supervolcano Eruption, and I'll do it --.
PS.: Not some brainless brand's blind fan, but quite a nervous tech-kinda guy. Honestly, I see people who uses Linux as #Hackerman, or something like that.

I don't know, if you have come across the nvidia graphics issues. I don't know ubuntu 20.04 Focal Fossa does not have issues with the same whereas Linux Mint has continued issues with nvidia graphics card. If it was a new issue, it's understandable, but same issue for quite sometime is not called for at all.

I installed Linux Mint XFCE this past weekend (Cinnamon does look great, but I prefer XFCE) and am really loving it. I followed the instructions on the Linux Mint User Guide to install ungoogled-Chromium. Though my preferred browser is Firefox.

For what I heard the issue was that it would use snap when you tried to use apt. It should always be the choice of the user what package manager is used. If I do enter sudo apt install, then I want to install with apt, not snap.
