I'll have to check this out. At work I have been using mainly neomutt and while amazing and super fast my job just switched over to a new CRM that sends my daily tasks in a really annoying HTML only format that is just unreadable in neomutt. Just this past week I tried out claws, evolution (which has been my goto with my personal emails since I don't live in my personal emails it did the jobbut feels clunky for my work emails) also Geary and Thunderbird. All of them have too many quirks or just don't feel right. I am so looking forward to checking this one out!!!
As always Love the videos!

The future of Micro$oft is more of the past. They only know conquer and destroy. They very cleverly bought into open source. Typescript is fine, VS Code is very good, but my concern is that now they own GITHUB, and NPM. As far as Javascript development goes M$ now owns the language, the IDE, the holder of the packages, and the run-time deployment systems. That is extremely BLEAK news imo. That is not the behavior of an open source supporter.

What do you think of BlueMail? I only have two email addresses and I don't think they have a subscription service (also, I'm pretty sure it's open source)
I use it, but it is a Snap. They have an AUR, but that's based on the Snap.
The other email client I like on Linux is KMail, but that's really for KDE and I'm currently using Cinnamon.

Mainspring has always advertised as Opensource so that was what made me download it. I never knew a part of it (the syncing service) was closed source before you made this video. Ive been using it for a long time, I highly recommend it. Now that it just got better going full Opensource It-s a really good option I use it everyday.

Isn't the MailSync thingy what does the actual email sync ? so technically you are syncing all your mail accounts into an online service by MailSpring and then connecting to it via the client ? if so it kind raises a privacy concern for me especially with work emails that i wouldn't want any third party gathering any data about !

I liked it a lot! But I have always hated the subscription models over the -Pay one time- ones, it is a shame that there are so many of these nowadays, and I think it appeals to what Luke Smith said about -constantly loosing more control over our machine-.

Mailspring is one thing. And sure, forgive. But Microsoft....please. We as community need to be careful. We know MS is in this for a long run. They could have ulterior motives. We need to be vigilant. For a long time I will view MS with utmost suspicion.

paying is okay, but 8/month that is a service with no real cost to mantain those features, as in those are already built features. I think this as bad as any propietary crap that does the same. Just like last pass recently.

I'm a Linux noob, but it looks to me like Mailspring is collecting metadata from all emails. Why is the client contacting Mailspring servers for NON-Pro services which they say is only needed for Pro services?
