I Need Ambient Noise At My Workstation DistroTube So about thirty minutes ago, I was sitting at my desk trying to do some work. And it was quiet. No, it was TOO quiet. I needed some ambient background noise. So I created a thing. - https://gitlab.com/dwt1/dmscripts/-/blob/master/scripts/dmsounds - The script - https://www.premiumbeat.com/blog/free-ambient-background-tracks/ - Article where I got the sound files

Hey DT, I know you're probably not going to read this, but I have a question and none of the people I asked have been able to solve the issue. I have a windows 10 virtual machine, and it keeps crashing. The error code given to me is driver overran stack buffer, and I have googled the issue but none of the articles I read seem to be about solving the issue in a vm, and most of them tlk about checking ram usage or using progrms to fix the issue. This issue happens approximately once every 15 min, making it impossible to use most programs. One thing I noticed is that my cpu usage in the vm is always at 100%, but im not exactly sure how this is linked to the issue or how to fix it and google tells me to get an ssd (I already set the vm settings to ssd and it still happens). I have allocated 100gb of storage to the vm and 6gb of ram, so im quite sure its not any of them causing the problem. If its of interest, my processor is I7-1065G7. I noticed in your previous videos testing various distros that you also have a windows 10 vm in virtualbox, so could you please let me see your settings and maybe give me some tips on how to fix the problem? I have some games such as valorant and genshin impact that need windows and I am unable to get wine working as well.

I know a lot of the point of this is solving the problem with a bash script (nice work, btw!) but I wanted to bring mynoise.net to your attention. There are SO many soundscapes there, perfect loops, different ways of animating them and mixing them. (animating, meaning change the sounds over time. There's no video animation there.) Mynoise.net is my absolute goto when I need ambient stuff to block out the noise around me.

The good idea is to mix different sounds with various ffplay background commands..I'll try with a new script! Actually there is a program called Blanket that already does it, but the real challenge is to do it with a bash script ;-) I've tried on different terminal windows and it works...

well i read that title and thought well why even do anything with the computer for that? you can generate white noise with no more than 2 transistors and like three passives entirely in hardware.
but then i found out that is not exactly what you were looking for.

Nice idea! The killall approach may not be the most elegant solution, though, even if most people probably won't have other ffplay processes running. But if they do, it would kill those as well. I'd recommend using a simple .pid file stored in /var/run.

Why in the world somebody that lives in an area that gets t-storms, hurricanes and tornadoes would want an ambient sound of t-storms is beyond my grasp. Now I could see DT having beers being opened in the background as his favorite ambient sound.

Hey dt this is probably unrelated to the video but what I want tovsay is Brodie made a video about how wsl is improving and I want you to make a strong standpoint video of why linux people should use linux and not windows. Plz consider it

most of the time when i want to install and build a nodejs application frok source i write a script so i can do other things and it just does it i don't need to remember to do a thing

Surely it happens because you are living in a calm place I mind, but in my case (I live near a highway and a railroad track) I don't need any more ambient noise XD

Hey DT if you want to be a real linux hacker use midnight commander instead of vim+emacs, 100x simpler yet just as effective if used to its' full capability. :-)
