Nitrux Is An Impressive Linux Distribution DistroTube Nitrux is a Debian-based Linux distribution that does some unique things. First, they have a customized KDE Plasma desktop that is simple and attractive. Second, they have swapped out a lot of the standard KDE apps for MauiKit apps. And third, they have several appImages installed out of the box. - https://nxos.org/

A honest request to all linux community. Please stop popping out new distros every week. Try to stick to a few distro like Ubuntu, Arch. Especially make efforts to increase compatibility with different windows only programs. I am trying to switch to Linux since last 3 months. Not able to properly use program like MS outlook which have to use it for office work. Also I dont want to write code in terminal every now and then. I am not a programmer and find typing commands extremely irritating. I cannot recommend such OS to my old parents. Dear Linux community, it should be your vision to make the OS so much intuitive and user friendly than offering more a 95% same OS in different name.

It's kde. Krohnkite's keybindings can be set any way you want. Create custom xdotool cornerbindings if you like. If you use the breeze window decoration you can do the tiling without titlebars and quite a bit more. Personally, as far as kde goes, nitrux isn't it . As ....mnaaah as that other crappy one...uhm..Feren. Appimg's for the sake of it, replacing perfectly good software with far less capable stuff ...no thanks. Far from impressive.

Great review. Looks like a great distro. I do not care much for the start menu though.
Having everything cluttered together like that is a bit messy because it requires you to go through the apps and see what they are. It also doesn't look too good with the app names being cut off. It does not look professional and it'd give new users a headache. So if I were to install this distro on somebody's computer, I'd replace it.

You're right, there's a lot to like in this distro, but some things are seriously lacking. Foremost is adding printers. Takes you through all the steps with both my HP printers, but refuses to add them even after finding the drivers. Secondly, I like appimages, too, but try to install something that doesn't have an appimage and you're stuck. I really do like their file manager, though.

As good as Dolphin looks, it has a fatal flaw for me: you can't open it as root, meaning that system files that you can't interact with as a user are completely out of your reach. I ended up downloading Krusader just for that, but now I have 2 file managers.

Hey DT can you please make an tutorial on how to install a Deb package (I know how to install Deb packages.) But there is this daw software (it's not completely open source) called tracktion waveform that I just cannot install.so please if you can help me.

Man, I-m done with distro fragmentation. I-m sticking with Void Linux, it-s so much easier to deal with and mold to your own liking than these over tweaked bloated operating systems. You throw a theme on a DE and call it a new distro. Bleh.

Hi DT. Probably not worth a video or anything, but there is an alternative -power- file manager in KDE called Krusader with dual pane and other goodies. Imho is better than Dolphin, you may want to check it out. Keep the good work!

So with appimages, if you want to keep your apps updated, you have to go find them yourself on the internet, like any old mac or windows? There's no way to have this being taken care of by the app-center? What's the point then?

i don't know about this distro, but some distros actually have vim installed, you just need to call it with 'vi' command, some systems actually opens vim. You should give it a try when you're checking if vim is on the system
