Windows 11 Event: Biggest announcements & my thoughts - Kevin Stratvert Microsoft announced Windows 11 today. We'll walk through all the biggest announcements and I'll also share my thoughts and reactions. Windows 10 was supposed to be the last version of the operating system, although PC sales have recently increased and Microsoft had a change of heart. We'll walk through the new start menu and why I like the addition of Recommended. We'll explore the new look and feel, some of the new themes, how windows snap and how you can snap entire groups. Next, we'll check out the pick up where you left off feature, following by the personalized feed with widgets. We then jump to virtual desktops, which now allow you to customize the background image. Although Windows 10 had virtual desktops, you were unable to customize the background. Next, we look at performance improvements and input improvements. Microsoft Teams is now being integrated directly into Windows in place of Skype. We then shift gears and talk about gaming on Windows 11. Gaming is now improved with Auto HDR and the addition of direct storage, which bypasses the CPU to the GPU. Lastly, we talk about the new Microsoft Store, which now allows the addition of Android apps. To finish off, I share my thoughts on the new OS, what timing might look like, and whether it'll be a free upgrade. - Additional resources - First-look at the leaked Windows 11: https://youtu.be/ZJR3-UtmoUU - Best apps on Windows 11: https://youtu.be/ZgY_rxm1J6U

So... Start menu goes to the center and there's more intrusive datamining and -suggestions- and the junk default -news- that no one likes on Edge, but outside Edge. And stuff no one uses like virtual desktops or the Windows Store.
But any performance improvements are really welcome. Please, software corpporations, let your talented engineers improve the OS and kick the marketing guy out of the meeting room. Now. Before he speaks.

Thanks for the information. However, I received information from Microsoft about Windows 11. I was able to do a PC Heath to see if my computer was compatible. It stated that -this pc can't run Windows 11 -- the pc must support Secure boot.- So what really happens at this point, what is secure boot and can you upgrade the current computer? This was the only issue. Thank you in advance.

This show was in-depth and full of a wealth of information. I hope that Windows 11 will be defect-free. Fortunately, I never had any problems with Windows 10. That is how I chose to upgrade from the Home edition to the Professional edition. If I should upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11, I hope to keep the operating system inside my computer for as long as I live.

I have Win 10 and another computer with Windows 7. Of the two, operating systems, I much prefer the latter, partly because the start menu is easy to navigate. Win10 start menu can be somewhat confusing and I try not to use it. I don't care for the personalization feature or Microsoft Store, which rarely recognizes my user information.

I don't know whether Windows 11 is good or bad. I do know its implementation will be another example of how dishonesty is becoming a legacy of Gates and the Microsoft company. Not much people can do because any competition needs to be at least on a par with the corruption of MS to have a chance.

Apart from the high level front end Eye candy, whoever has tested Win 11 Developer version, see if they have finally ALLOWED Folder size calculation in Details view which was available since Mac OS 7? I can't believe Nadella and his team cannot activate such a basic function even up to Win 10!

Great video Kevin and thank you. By the way how do you draw those red rectangles with your mouse around I jects or texts to draw our attention? Do I need a software to enable that or is it a setting in Windows? Your help is appreciated Kevin.

Thanks, Kevin. I'm actually interested in the new Windows, which I can't say was true last time.... I'm particularly looking forward to Teams integration, improved performance and a better store. Hopefully it will be ready for September.

Windows 10 became notorious because of bugs and faults. People became worried or uninterested all the time when new upgrades emerge from microsoft. Finally they had to get rid of windows 10 to regain people trust.
