5 BEST FREE Photo Editing Software on PC - Kevin Stratvert Learn about the five best free photo editing software that you can install on your PC. We start with an app that comes for free with Windows, the Photos app. As long as you already have Windows, there's no need to install any additional software. The Photos app offers all the most common editing functionality, like adjusting exposure, sharpness, and removing redeye. Next, we look at one of the most popular photo editing apps called IrfanView. This app allows you to rotate, flip, add text, add effects, and more to your pictures. You can even configure slideshows and bulk convert your photos to another file format. Next up, we look at Adobe Photoshop Express. Similar to the Windows Photos app, you can make all of the most common edits to your photographs. The last three apps we look at, including darktable, Raw Therapee, and Gimp, offer the most control to edit every aspect of your photos. You can make changes to raw images and then apply those edits to all your other photos. Edits are non-destructive, meaning you can undo the various changes you make to get the photo to look just how you want it. - Additional resources - Microsoft Photos: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/microsoft-photos/9wzdncrfjbh4 - IrfanView Graphic Viewer: https://www.irfanview.com/ - Adobe Photoshop Express: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/adobe-photoshop-express-image-editor-adjustments-filters-effects-borders/9wzdncrfj27n?activetab=pivot:overviewtab - darktable: https://www.darktable.org/ - Raw Therapee: http://rawtherapee.com/ - Gimp: https://www.gimp.org/

Back in the 90s, I used IrfanView and even back then it was an awesome viewer, but not great editor. When the Windows version of GIMP came out, I gave that a try and have been using it ever since.
I was rather surprised that GIMP didn't make your top five, despite claiming it's one of your favorites. It's certainly the most flexible of the bunch. Also, you should be careful about qualifying how difficult a program is to learn. It's all relative. I for one would find learning Darktable and Raw Tharapee fairly easy to learn, probably because I'm familiar with Lighttable.

I really like Irfanview for viewing photos and making quick changes. I'll take a closer look at the programs that you have reviewed to see if I can select one that is easy to use with a reasonable amount of features. I rarely use a photo editor and I'm quite sure that I would not use an editing program that has too much complexity. Thank you for the video!

When exactly did the search box replace actually learning about where things are located on your own system? No wonder nobody today has the faintest clue how to navigate the file system or find anything that doesn't have a Desktop icon. Now people are too lazy to even use the Start menu.

QUESTION - Using the microsoft app on my computer, I don't see any way to add text. That's the main need I have at the moment (adding text to my photos) Any ideas? Have I missed something? .... Thanks. You are an excellent teacher. ....
