That program looks garbage. So, I hate Electron, it is the blight of GUI. It allows developers to be lazy at the cost of performance. Powerful computers have become an excuse for letting extremely bloated software with massive useless overhead become the norm. Now, I don't like that you complained about VS Code and gave this program a pass, this program is garbage. VS Code, technology aside, is architecturally sound and very quality software. There's a damn good reason for it to be Electron based too, they didn't need to write a renderer, and they can rely on Chrome for proper font handling in all of the edge cases. Plus, it allows for a very expansive plugin selection, as TypeScript is easy to interface with other languages. It makes use of all the features Chromium has to offer. Out of all the Electron apps available, VS Code sets the bar for quality and proper use. It gets the pass, nearly nothing else does. Electron promotes garbage developers writing garbage software, and VS Code is the exception.

First of all Atom makes a lot of sense as an electron app because they designed it to be an extensible text editor with Git integration. As someone who uses Atom, I think it makes a lot of sense.
I'm also going to say that Nuclear is one of the most unethical pieces of FOSS software out there. Bypassing ads violates multiple TOS agreements to the service backends they are using. Also bypassing ads means that the original artists aren't getting paid, this is the same as music piracy. Music proprietary rights have nothing to do with free software. Somehow I think this development team is gonna cease and desist letter and possibly sued because of this (and rightly so).

Just installed it on Win11, it adds random music into the Queue xD
Also I quickly noticed, it does have sm content but not all of it, I don't think it actually has access to anything from Spotify, if you will search for podcasts even by copying the exact name it will not find anything, it seems to utilize well YT as a source but I'm not sure if anything more ;)
It will randomly loose streaming source of music that has been already listened to :D
its great idea, I hope it will actually become usable :)

Electron/Neutralino/NW.js apps makes sense when:
- You need to connect to web services
- You need both the web app version and the desktop version
- You need advanced layout and theming
- It's just a concept app, or you need to get things done quickly
Electron apps can be fast, if used right. Especially with technologies like WebAssembly (WASM), you can get your program to run at almost native speed, both on the web, and on the desktop.

on one hand, this is a very nice piece of software. on the other hand, artists barely get any money as it is from streaming, and this completely removes that from the equation. if you like a piece of music, at least try to support the people making it, especially if its from a less popular group/person

If these companies hate piracy so much, then maybe they should stop being so creepy. Stop spying, tracking and farming our data. We know you need your money. But you'd make more money if weren't doing this shady stuff. Because this is why piracy exists. Money has nothing to do with it.

A part the fact they use Pisa tower image under german music category... Does it work? One things it can be useful it is the fact you can find music that are outside spotify but it seems it takes ages to find them if not very popular and it can't find the more obscure songs.

Just installed. Works fine with my local library. Searches and plays no problem. But online? KEK. It will search the song, find the song, but when you -play- You get 00:00. Infact, every song this thing finds, lists it with the same play time 00:00. Anyone got any tips?

For me the only problem is that the audio quality is worse than on spotify's free (with ads) version, but other than that it seems like a great product (bugs aside)
an example download from nuclear was capped at -16kHz and encoded at 64kbps

vscode / atom being electron when you realize why people like vscode and atom. Making a plugin for vscode is SUPER easy, like middle school coding class easy.
Try making a plugin for jetbrains or visual studio. Not so easy.
