Nice guide to get beginners into caring about privacy. Brave browser is only partly open source. They do have proprietary code for monetary incentives. I would suggest IceCat, which is a Firefox base and supports most add-ons. Lightning browser as well, but doesn't get updated much. Signal is great, Telegram is a good second. K9 mail is a great third party email client for Android that supports pgp and s/mime. The beauty of Android is freedom of choice. There's literally multiple options for each and every service that Google offers, but with privacy in mind. Also, f-droid is an amazing app store alternative that only adds FOSS (free and open source software) software.

nmap your local IP address. Make sure all your ports are closed on inbound. Than log your outbound.
Get a free software router. Is one of the single best moves someone can make as a private individual. Even if they use windows, they would harden their network and prevent most free software much more safe with non-free on your network.
I have a windows install with netstat -ano with 0 established connections when running a windows 10 session. Logged in as a user, with several of my own applications running. Group Policy configured and I even had windows not recognize my processor for a few weeks. Wise I didn't update it though; . Don't trust that software.

Great video, but so much I don't understand how to do as beginner.
I use firefox, but not good with advanced configuring - though use most of those privacy extensions and DuckDuckGo is my default search engine. Have now switched to using FB only on Tor (and only use for that.
Going to use Thunderbirds for Gmail and thinking of using another (separate, dedicated browser) for YouTube (and maybe Google play online.
EDIT: Have set up Brave (set-up to block all ads etc) for YouTube and Google account stuff!
. Does this sound sensible? Any other 'basic' stuff I could be doing?

Hi, I just wanted to let you know, Self Destructing Cookies will NOT be updating for Firefox 57 and beyond, unfortunately. However, I found a fabulous replacement,
-Cookie Auto-Delete- which was inspired, by SDC. It's an older extension that's been updated, and very nice job too. Also, for canvas blocking, or spoof, I recommend
-Canvas Defender- both working on current Firefox Nightly 58x. So both refined for changes coming in November.

this is a great video, the more people that are informed about privacy issues at hand, Will likely in the future lead to less government spying on our personal privacy

Hello! What do you think about protecting your privacy online? Are these methods effective enough to make it unprofitable for both companies and the governments to spy on us?

When considering compertmantalization, what browser do I use for what purpose? For example on what browser to watch Youtube or Facebook?

Can't disagree with anything said here. Fortunately I do 99% of what you recommend here and can certainly say it works.
