WORKING SOLUTION: For Windows 10 1909 update or newer:
Open Settings and search for -Graphics Settings-. Select -Classic App- and browse to C:\Program Files\obs-studio\bin\64bit\obs64.exe (or wherever you have installed OBS). Click -Options-.
If you want to use display capture to capture your screen / desktop, select -Power Saving-.
If you want to use game capture to capture a game or use the NVENC encoder, select -High Performance-.

OBS just didnt work for my laptop and i did all the troubleshooting steps. However, I found out a way to record my game on my laptop. If you have -Intel Graphics Command Centre- on your laptop, you should be able to record anything, just play around with the settings and make sure you add it in your graphics settings. This software already came with my laptop, so if you have a laptop with Intel, chances are you already have it!

Hey you lot, if you have carried out all the methods of fixing the black screen issue but none of them worked. Try removing Display Capture from the sources section and re-add it. It worked for me.

I'm Sorry it doesn't work is still black im on Windows 10 laptop and i also have that NVIDIA control panel and how is your obs worked? even your in windows 10 laptop

I followed this exactly and while I can see the desktop, when I try to record the desktop the recording has audio but no video. The recording is black. Thank you!!!
