Fight Surveillance with this THIS TOOL! - Safing Portmaster Review - Techlore Safing is helping people fight surveillance with their FOSS (open source) tools! This seems like a good idea but appeared to stuff up my network connection when I installed it. Killed my VPN. Killed my internet access. Killed my local network connection. Killed my internet traffic monitoring tools. Prevented most of my other apps from working at all. The application did not even appear in task manager for me to kill the process and I had to uninstall it for things to work again. Be aware of the impact before you install.

Just a warning this takes forever to install their lists, and it disables all other traffic before that, i had the programs install, went to the gym for 3 hours, came back and it didn't install the lists, had to uninstall, i will try it again tonight while i sleep but I'm not sure about this programs I'd much rather have a toggle asking me if i want my traffic disabled and proceed.

hm interessing piece of software, considering a point i was thinking a lot about: how about all the traffic on my PC, aside of the on of the browser - the guy describes it exactly here -3: 58. So Portmaster is similar to what Blokada can do on your phone. So far the only thing i would have thought of for a solution was having a PieHole.
thanks vor the vid

Safing company is a scam. They act all good and helpfull untill you decide their service does not fit you and request a refund for the SPN. They suddenly do not reply so often en helpful anymore, come up with all kinds of excuses not to refund and eventually stop replying all together. Be Warned, don't give them a cent, its a scam.

Browser extensions are a big no no. They allow the owner to see your browsing data on every site you visit, even across disconnected ad or tracking domains.
That's why banks have become so aggressive pushing their -save 2% on all your online purchases- promotions to get everyone to install their extension.

I can say yes this does work, and yes, you will run into some bugs, but it still works very well. I even have it running to monitor traffic on my shared connection from the PC to the router, and yeah, it blocks ads successfully.

I am currently using -net limiter 4-, with ask to connect.
Not only can we block internet access for a particular app/service but also limit the data a. w. a set quotas.
But it's a paid software (firewall.

Hi there. I appreciate and thank you for your great work. However, when I installed it, McAffe reported and quarantined portmast-start. exe as a suspect/virus file. Is that a false positive?

if you think you can TRUST portmaster, you can just trust windows too. you don't really know what it's doing with your data: D and you DO know it controls everything.

If I were -Google- a jerk, I would just make my program wait until it got a ping back, problem solved (for the malefactor. How does safing handle this?
