Thanks for the great information.
I use Signal, but am looking at other messengers like Threema, Utopia and Wire. Will look at Session and also looking at Brosix as well.
But it amazes me that Signal, Session and others are pushing out product/service that is targeted for the Privacy Protection Arena, but they are domiciled in very very draconian jurisdictions that treat their citizens like milk cows. So yes they are standing firm mow, but what happens when they are hit with courts orders like Tutanato.
Would be alot better (IMHO) to domicile in a favorable jurisdiction, which would add layers to prevent attack. Whatever crosses the line or makes its home in those jurisdictions, are under their gun, with a foot on the throat.
Just my 3 cents. BUT I may be wrong as well.

I've been using it for a while and I'm very impressed. It's all I wanted from Signal and more. Just being decentralized and open source is awesome. On top it don't ask for a tel number and its quite simple for the -normal- user to adopt. After trying so many I think I'll willl keep this one.
Please to the devs, don't go the same route that others, like signal. No voip, no video, no gif, no fancy heavy data. Just give me a simple secure private messanger, to send text messages. KISS, make easy and cheap to make a decentralized node, so it can't really grow and be a real strong secure competitor to others. Thank you for this already.

I think it needs to be said that Session is not for everybody. Anonymity comes with a price that some just can-t pay and that is okay. I-ve been using Session for about a month now - I told myself that Session is still in its infancy stage - it lacks plenty of features (along with my frustrations on Session with iOS atm) but when it matures, I think this is the encrypted IM app to beat. I mean, tell me which other IM app uses onion routing for privacy?

It looks. Like a great messaging app but the
problem is how many messaging apps we are going to hop
Signal to element/session to in future to a new app
It's difficult to call all the friends to shift to a xyz app then in future u come to know it dont work now then again calling people lets switch to another app
because previous one don't work
It irritating for both the parties

It's a shitcoin scam with a smaller dev team than other apps which makes it more susceptible to hacks and exploits. Less audited code, less security. The whole project is -let's create a shitcoin so we can print our own money and wrap some forked code around it to convice people we have a utility-. 2017 all over

I wanted to like Session until I saw their Twitter account. All they do is diss others, especially Signal, which literally paved their way. I rather stay on Signal and wait for them to introduce usernames instead of supporting this kind of 'marketing'.

I like Telegram as opposed to Signal as you can delete messages at any time and hide your phone number. I obviously don't trust it as much because it's not completely open source, but for privacy with other individuals, I find it better.

the last discussion about how Australian govt might put backdoor into Session definitely punctuates with exclamation the need to get on a de-googled privacy phone where can access a FOSS app store like F-Droid
reply

Just wondering, what are the chances that this app would not end up on a governments watchlist and later exploitation of encryption and therefore getting the information of who is talking with who and where?
reply

Session is absolutely on my watchlist.
The most amazing thing about this interview is you not interrupting any of the answers. Thanks for that. Really refreshing to see (or hear)
