Why I'm changing the CPU in all my Mining Rigs - Sebs FinTech I let you know why I am changing the CPU in all of my crypto mining rigs. Changing the CPU in my Ethereum and Ravencoin mining rigs is actually not so that I can CPU mine a coin like Raptoreum, but rather so that I can save on power! That is because I'm changing the processor for a low power CPU. This will help lower the overall power consumed by the mining rig and, when done on all of your crypto mining rigs, actually does have a significant impact on the power efficiency for your mining farm. This means that you should be able to squeeze out a bit more hashrate while consuming the same amount of power Eduardo: How about the PCIe lanes? Dont you need to worry about that too? I mean, if you wanna fit like 9 GPUs in one motherboard you will need a CPU that supports this amount of lanes, right?

At this point, my question is how to lower volts. Yeah, get the old vids. But things seems to have been changed in the last month. MSI wont let me chance anything but watts.
Have my 3080's running at 73% Watts, but they now hit almost 106 F on the ram. And sit around 104F for the ram (GPU sitting at about 52C). How do I fix the VRAM issue? 106 C ram vs 52C GPU?

Quick question because this space confuses me: I had assumed that most popular currencies had reached the point where mining them on standard computers was unprofitable, and that most people had moved on to ASICs - I suppose my question basically boils down to why do people still use computers to profit from mining?

I think its not worth it if you also calculate the cpu and the cooler price. If you are building new rig, okay to choose these processors are good option . But if you already have cpu's and coolers, and you pay extra for cpu and cooler to save up in electricity cost is not worth it .

Instead of changing your cpu, you could always just underclock/undervolt your current cpu and disable the turbo boost features to get nearly the same wattage savings. Saves the time and hassle of looking to buy replacement cpu's and selling your current ones as well as swapping parts.

The reason why you didn't get what you expected is that the Watts you saw in the support page is TDP (maximum heat output which is roughly maximum consumption). For mining, the CPU usage is minimum, so the consumption is minimum. I guess the biggest difference is the CPU fan.

I just run my cpus underclocked with cores dissabled.
Sometime it takes longer to boot up up but its essentialy the same as using a low power cpu.
You dont nessarialy have to undervolt just catch waht voltage is used in the lower pstates.

i solved the problem by mining rtm on all of my crappy 4thread cpus in my rigs as well :D ca 300-350 h/s, but at least they have some purpose. inefficient tho but idc ::D:D
Before RTM I undervolted them + disabled cores and hyperthreading.

do you think buying the heatsink would be sufficient with a pentium g5400? max 54w but idk if that would be like too much to attempt unless i applied special thermal paste

Rainbow kiosk is great my friend , listening from France and tried to get desperately from Shazam while watching your mining video ! thanks for all!
Focus on music as well !
