Please review the Formula for the % change need to be corrected. =(y2 - y1) / y1= your percentage change
(where y1=first value and y2=second value)

What if I want to work out the value of difference. Eg. I made 5000 this month, and spent 1800. What is the formula to get the answer of 36%

Then most you can go is -100% unless you take it to the negative numbers
