Unfortunately, in this highly interconnected day and age, it's pretty much impossible to remain off the grid and be truly anonymous unless you go to extraordinary lengths (that most people aren't willing to go to) and live like you're in the year 1990 or earlier. While modern telecom and computer hardware violates our privacy today in almost every conceivable way, it also grants us extraordinary abilities that were considered science fiction only a generation ago. Many people would find these technologies difficult to live without. I believe the situation will soon reach a point where it'll be impossible to participate in modern society without being closely tracked and monitored by multiple companies and worldwide governmental agencies. Some may manage it, but only at great personal cost. It's a depressing thought.

Well the big technos do know where my olde lady is. She drives a 2016 GM. Me? Not so much. She is tethered to her personal phone.
Her company also knows the location of her company phone.
They do know the location of my desk, computer and the cell phone on the desk. That pisses the old lady off.
Because the cell phone stays on the desk. Yep she is not happy. Because she can't phone and demand cigarettes and tater chips while I am out.
I did just fine for 45 years without a phone. Sometimes did not even have a home phone. The wife had a home phone. If she paid the bill.
They don't work well in the middle of the Gulf of Alaska or the South Pacific.

Is it possible to use a UMPC (Ultra Mobile Personal Computer) with a DIY Arduino SIM card solution and a custom-made app for the computer to make phone calls, transmit SMS/MMS and tether the internet connection? I would love to have such a setup instead of a phone and merge it with a BraxRouter so I can have all the commodity on the go while staying private. What do you think of this? Would it work?

If I go through the effort and cost of using a de-googled smartphone, but my wife still uses a standard smartphone, are my efforts for naught? I think the VPN router would still be worth it, but won't her use of all the standard spy apps (GAPS, FB, Instagram, tiktok, amazon etc) still identify me and tie me to that specific device?
