need to find something for installing and setting up stuff like Sonarr, Jackett, and other torrents for freenas for the Plex set up's I have Plex install and have simple stuff like some family photos and videos, and music I already have. Now want to set up stuff for TV showed ect. My neighbor has his install on a Windows computer and its all window based, I also use the FreeNas as a back up point for computer back ups ect. also why dose the Plex media server us a different IP address on the same network card as the FreeNas. the Free Nas ends in 156 were as the Plex ends in 162. is there a reason for that. Also Plex likes to buff a lot on just small videos. Haven't put any movies on it yet since it buffers on just small videos. I want to make sure it is running like a top before I go full crazy with it.
I have 4 4TB hardrives with 10.9 TB Hard drive space with a 250 SSD for caching. all on a 1gb connection between all hardware. Other than a TV since they are still old school 100 meg. Yet with file transfer between PC to the Nas the faster I have see it is 115 megs both upload and download. Love to see faster connections. My network equipment is all 1 gigabit networking, Switch, Linksys routor, my FreeNas box and my office computer, the only thing I have that is not 1 gig is my sons PS4, and the ruko equipment inside since we use the internet for just about everything and don't pay for TV, any info would be helpfull to make things for at least file transfers faster. and also good torrents for getting tv shows and moves in nice settings for the Plex. and of course as much speed as I can between hardware.

Thanks Chris!! I have just started with FreeNAS (two days ago) and find your videos very helpful. I am still not fully set up (as in hard drive acquisition) but am playing with what I have until I am ready to go -live-. Do you have an FAQ or even a FreeNAS for dummies section that I could peruse? I am not sure how many people are just using it on an older computer as a media hub or even just as a small home file sharing server but for me, the amount of info you supply is perfect. I was getting bogged down reading the manual and watching some of the other videos as they all seemed geared towards people who were using it as an office/business server. Thanks again!

I don't know how much of a big deal It is but heres my issue. I have an HP ProLiant DL380G7. I am using the stock gigabit card with 4 ports in balanced. When I select VNET and change my adapter to vnet I can't access plex. Am I not allowed to use a aggregation with VNET? Whats up!? Great vid though this helped a lot.
EDIT:Ahh for anyone else with this issue, here are the words from Oracles site: You cannot group the virtual network devices (vnet and vsw) into a link aggregation.
I have dedicated one of my NIC's to plex and all works well, thanks so much!

Love the tutorial, been following it to the letter but still can't get Plex to scan the library for new items, it works if i manually scan but other than that no joy. I add the shares and see the movies/tvshows getting meta data when i add the library, but when i add stuff to it i have to manually scan for items. Even with the scan the library every hr on.

Why is it that no one explains how to get files to show up when adding folders in Plex? I've watched three videos on this tonight, followed 'em all to the tee.. but end up with no media. -smashes head in cement wall-

When I turn on Barkley and VLAN on with my routers IP it will no longer connect to the Plexserver it will just say it's offline, and as soon as I disable it again it allows me to get to the server once again.

Thank you so much! The metadata part was driving me nuts. So glad you included the fix for that. Thanks again! Also, why doesn't FreeNAS turn those options on by default? It would save a lot of headaches.

Hy! Unfortunately, I have to reinstall Plex but after the VNET setting, it will not start again. Have you any ideas what will be the problem? Thanks!
