I thinl that windows 10 concept is good but it realisation is really bad.
1st all the background processes are too much and just crap, they should rework the kernel and the way the basic processes are handled, 128mb of system memory occupated by xp woth at most 10 processes at idle was superb,
2nd they should straight away kill cortana by making it uninstallable or completely deactivable,
3rd when you install the os there are some more privacy options, which you cannot access after and you cannot disable on laptop this way, windows 10 should be completely privacy friendly and you should be able to kill every single system spying on you,
4th it is good that windows 10 core is more an always on internet system, but the back old days of xp core concept were better,
5th there should be more continuity with android phones in order to connect to phones quickly, pass files easily and also fast screen mirroring, instead of the actual connect to your phone crap,
6th there should be apart from a redisign a super bug fix update in which for 6 months or more they just focus on fixing bugs,
7th defender needs huge improvements

Windows 10 is horrid. Had issues from day one. Years a go when it first came out, as a free upgraded. When I said no to all the personal info it wanted. All it would do is sit and look pretty on my pc and wouldn't work. Went back to 8. 1. Was forced to go to 10 just over a year ago. Just to get on the internet. As the new hardware, many manufacturers are skipping 8. 1 for drivers. I got 10 just in time to land up been one of the lucky few to 'loose' a few of my files due to the bug they had that deleted things without permision: -( And that was just the beginning of the joy I had with 10.
4 months ago I ditched 10 and went Linux Mint. It too isn't perfect and has a few issues, but after 10 and it's nonsense, the issues are liveable. And I can happily use Virtual box with 8. 1 on it for things I can't do. But slowly working to the goal of been off windows completely. Many of the issues I have with Linux Mint is more of a case I haven't a clue what I'm doing. But it is stable as hang and I haven't crashed it yet. Dispite what I've done to it.

-23: 00 I used the 2006 Xeon MacPro I got for free back in 2016 as a compute workstation once I found a tool to by pass the UEFI 32-bit system and install a 64-bit Ubuntu 16. 04 LTS and now 18. 04 LTS based Linux distro on it. I have since upgraded to a DIY Xenon build, but I still use that 2006 MacPro for casual 1080p gaming and streaming. In fact, I liked the 2006 MacPro so much I bought a second one slapped my old R9 390 on dead cheap ebay and use it as my Debian 10 Linux media streaming server.
The only Windows 7 system I have is a 2-core Athlon from 2006/7 that I have been forced to put together and only ever use when I am registering a new AMD GPU to claim the rewards because AMD's rewards website only recognizes AMD GPUs in Windows PCs for whatever reason even though AMD's own propietary drivers are part of the Linux kernel now and it is easy to find out which driver is in use.

RIP Win7, It was a great OS! But I haven't used it since win 10 release and there's the rub for me. In my experience, Win10 was better during it's initial release then slowly all the updates and patches have really messed it up! As an avid PC gamer and builder, the never ending issues of random uncontrollable updates breaking graphics drivers, 2 year old laptops useless because they won't accept the anniversary update and breaks the track pad driver, completely buried common settings(even Gordon has a hard time finding) And that's only the tip of issues, Microsoft has allot of things to fix. They should listen to the users more and fix all the headaches we've dealt with.

Windows 10 is good until they do an update and screw stuff up like drivers for my video cards not just once but multiple times and in all my computers. Not like they're that old Rx 480&580 cards just so they can block you from burning DVD if I was doing that I'd run an older version of Windows 10 before (1903 update) also you can't play Blu-ray DVD after that update. I call BS why should I buy a new video card for their new software to block people from burning DVDs. Makes me lose it just a little. Also programs that worked prior to the update says not supported by this platform --. Me switching to Linux can't imagine why.

One of the many things which I hate about Windows7 is that MS has no proper implementation to hide the taskbar when a window is not fullscreen. Another thing I hate is that two times an update of W7 broke my system. -Alaina Yee, search new -power toys-, Linux has those too. Just saying that nobody forces you to use W10, you CHOOSE to use or not use it. For those -compute sticks- Linux will work great, at least the proper version. Linux Mint might be a great system for your parents, it looks a lot like Windows7 and it pretty much works the same.

I still have a working Windows 2000 pc and it browses the internet just fine: D Youtube/Facebook/Instagram/Ebay all works with no errors. Blackwingcat backported patches, custom compiled browser. Windows 7 is far more modern OS, people will keep it working. The extended paid for support patches will get rolled into unofficial updates for the next 3 years (at least. Saying that a windows 10 licence can be had for very little on eBay and most windows 7 machines will run it just fine. No panic.

Windows 10 and Mac users have several things in common. 1. You are too lazy to learn a superior OS like Linux. 2. They are fools to think MS is not collecting every keystroke and web page your visit. 3. They blindly except the fact that they cannot control the content and operation of their own computer.
4. Cortana is probably recording video and audio of you and your family.
Smarten up people.

I have a 9. 5 year old laptop that I just upgraded to windows 10. Runs surprising well, at least as fast as windows 7 in most cases. I've spent a few days tweaking things and the only thing that really bugs me is having internet search built into the start menu. But there's a lot of improvements that make it a net upgrade for me. Edit: also the free upgrade still works.

maybe i didnt stick around long enough, why isnt there any mention of Linux or BSD associated with the death of windows 7? seems like the most natural upgrade to me. Windows 10 is a trainwreck.
bleeding edge AND legacy hardware support. security patches that arent spyware in disguise. actual administrative control of my system.
