It’s not DDR5 7500 , it’s LPDDR5X -7500 n supposedly apple has put a regular LPDDR5 non X overclocked to 7500 MTs instead of just using LPDDR5X n let it run 7500 standard which makes no sense , LPDDR5X runs more efficiently than LPDDR5 , uses less wattage running at the same 7500 MTs , but maybe apple just chose a cheaper route n instead of getting proper lpddr5x memory they just overclocked a regular lppdr5 to run at 7500 MTs to save $ but that makes no sense because using LPDDR5X at 7500 would be more energy efficient but prob more expensive so apple just took the cheap route n bought the cheaper lpddr5 n just overclocked them to 7500 to match the same performance as an lpddr5x running at that same speed normally , but you’d think using lppdr5x would be cheaper because it’s more energy efficient but energy efficiency doesn’t always translate to cheaper cost

Some of these pc makers need to correct their hardware specs because doing the math in some of them doesn’t add up for instance the amd’s rdna 3 based Z1 extreme SoC gpu says it runs at 2700 MHz n up 8.6 tflops in dual issue single precision numbers but in order to hit 8.6 tflops the gpu in the SoC needs to run at 2800 MHz , at 2700 MHz the FP32 dual issue precision would 8.29 tflops not 8.6 , to get 8.6 tflops the 12 dual issue CUs need to run at 2800 MHz or 2. 8 GHz not 2.7 which confuses customers so does the z1 extreme SoC’s 12 dual issue CUs gpu run at 2.7 or 2.8 GHz because the math doesn’t add up amd , 12 dual issue CUs running at 2.7 GHz gives u 8.29 tflops n running at 2.8 GHz gives u 8.6 tflops , u can’t say it goes up to 8.6 tflops but runs at 2.7 GHz , the math don’t add up

Man, how far we've come with handheld PC's... Since the early 2000 UMPC days, to the myriad of Chinese handhelds, to the kickstarter scam handhelds like the Smach Z and PGS, to the CES tease that was the Alienware UFO, the wave of Ayaneo handhelds, etc, etc, all the way to the Steam Deck of today and the wave of new handheld PC's that are coming out.
I'm excited to continually see the technology evolve each year, and I think we're probably heading to a point where the line between handheld PC's and smartphones start to combine, where maybe we'll get a Steam Phone from Valve one day Sounds crazy, but anything's possible at this point.

This device looks really interesting and I'm sure it'll be high quality cause I had a Zotac GTX 1080 GPU that was both tiny and very high quality and ran super cool. In this Zotac Zone I like the symmetrical sticks - it's better visually than offset sticks but after a closer look I think they might be a bit low. What makes the Steam Deck so comfortable is the fact that the sticks are all the way at the top - this gives a very natural hold for your hand. These sticks in the middle of the device may require a bit of flexing your thumbs downwards to reach. We'll see.

I gotta say. I feel like this will fail hard. I hope I'm wrong. Looks are subjective, but it looks hideous to me. The format, the color, the big bezels, the placement of everything. The speakers blasting sound under the device and not in front, the track pads too low, the camera no one needs for gaming, the simetrical joysticks, the big empty space above the face joysticks. No mention of gyroscope, the low battery capacity being leaked. I really hope this is a success, because competition it's always good for consumers, but I'm feeling like it'll fail.

as someone that actually daily drive an ally, even used it as production machine and aware of the phone link webcam thing which can turn your phone into webcam, I'd rather have an integrated webcam and I'd rather do any kinda of video meeting with it than using my phone. But yeah the windows hello can go to trashcan, overall that is actually neat

Awesome! I love how they have the symmetrical stick layout!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The d-pad doesn't look very good though. I'm not sure about the device shape though. Maybe needs more refined. Those dials around the sticks don't seem like a good idea. Those back buttons are too big and in the way. Tell them they need an 80mAh battery.

7 inch 120 hz amoled but no vrr support missed opportunity it better have at least BT 5.4, Wi-Fi 7 final spec not draft spec , drafts specs are not finalized hence it’s called draft not final lol (which comes out by Q4 2024) , USB4 or USB4version 2 type c connector/swith DP 2.1a and USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 alt modes n PD 3.0

Windows suck as a mini pc......until they fit themselves with an interface separate of gaming vs. productivity. They need a dedicated operating system like the steam deck... I pick it up and play.....its like a gaming console in your hands. Also the controls are very similar to that of steam decks layout.

First look at the device, it reminds me of the Steam Deck in a few ways. The twin touch pads are nice, symmetrical sticks is great to me personally, because I grew up with Playstation, and I always preferred my stick placement like that. The Dpad looks terrible though, I hope they alter it.

The only thing thats important is the power of the 8840u and the batterylife. I just preordered my Ally X because I have an Ally and the batterylife sucks. If the Zotac hadn't the OLED and a VRR good batterylife and performance it would have been my favourite device in the PC handheld market.
reply

Those thick black bezels look horrendous, sorry. At least the Ally had smaller side bezels (but still too large top and bottom - would totally benefit from 16: 10 ratio instead of 16: 9 to reduce them), and the SD OLED smaller overall. Large bezels make the device look already outdated.
reply

Thanks for quick review, especially comparing sizes.... have not, however, managed to catch OLED LCD resolution as well as battery specs..... Docking station DP and more USBs is not very convincing. Any mid range Baseus USB hub will be better...
Smell test is also a plus xD

So, no gyro at all That's too bad. I think having a gyro is the way to go. It's another option for people that actually make use of it, like myself. Seems like the thermals might be a little high seeing there doesn't seem to be much opening for airflow.

I like the inclusion of hall effect sticks/triggers, configurable triggers and the jog wheels are a great feature to be able to use as scroll wheel. I don't mind the camera either. A great evolution of the handheld space.
reply

I'd really like to see some of these devices use SteamOS. Each time they are reviewed and compared to the Steam Deck, there's a part where the reviewer says the experience is not as good as SteamOS.
reply

Screen is dealbreaker - hate when there is space for bigger screen but we get thick black frame instead
also trackpads are to low - wish they were modular so user could swap them with analogs

reply

If all buttons D-pad were clicky and everything else works well, this would be my first choice for a PC handheld. I already have a Razer Wolverine V2 Chroma just for the clicky buttons.
reply

Short-throw mechanical triggers, jog wheels around the sticks, dual trackpads, Dpad-centric stick layout... Wish the buttons were mechanical, too, but the controls look very promising overall.
reply

The problem with these devices that are running windows are dedicated support. Unlike steam they're very consistent with updates and optimizations that's why people are more leaning to them.
