This was totally fun, thanks! I followed what you did and also added gaussian blur, cloning, etc. Abstracts are not my thing but it was fun and actually came out nicely. Wish the comments allowed us to upload images.

Wow, that's fun! Thanks for the idea! I just made one, and then applied a glass filter, reduced opacity, and it's gonna make a nice background. I'm always on the hunt for a good background!

After you finish doing that use the warp tool to bend and fold it around for some interesting and colorful designs.
