we will use several techniques to erase or replace the fringe in Photoshop. Using simple tools like the brush tool, and the clone stamp tool, after selecting the hair, we will learn how to cover the unwanted edges in a realistic fashion

Hi gang. anytime I try this the edges always look way too pixelated and choppy, still as if I just used the selection/magic wand tool. Whereas in his videos, even in the color range panel, the images are flawless and the edges are smooth. Obvi we want to start with the highest resolution, but is he using some kind of RAW photo files? Or is simply because I am in PSCs6 and he is in the latest version? Please advise. thank you! :)

I discovered this technique a few months ago by just pure problem solving thinking. I do tons of subject masks for work, and this has done wonders for defringing more than just hair, but also clothing and color decontamination. I always wondered if I was the only one, but of course I was not because Mr. Umesh is a Photoshop guru! So nice to see self-taught skills also being learned by the community!

if i cut hair like that in my work, i would be fired: P, just kidding the method its spot on, but you have to be more carefull in the cutout part, also, later i may add flyaway hair by hand with a 1px brush, or cleaning some that are kinda lost, i work in advertising where they want the cutouts to be the most realistic possible.

Our client does not pay for the time spent.
I select a new layer with blending mode colour and paint over it in the adjacent colour. It doesn't matter if I get too far inwards and I save myself the effort of stamping.
Or if I need to do it very quickly: New layer colour saturation, desaturate background colour.

Wow! This is so cool to learn! I never thought about Blurring those loose strands of pixelated hairs! Thank you so very much!
I saw one tut, by Russel Brown, I believe, where he removed the color from the fringe with the Hue Saturation Adjustment Layer, set on the Blues, in this case.

Great work! When removing a colorful background, you should always look out for and remove color casts as well. In this image you can see a cyan color cast under her arm. Its pretty easy to remove. Unmesh has a video on that too.

with these tutorials editing is just 5 mins job. and most important part is no advertises also. hr cam esrn so much from advertising but he decided to skip that and focus on work.

The painting technique can also be applied to removing fringes around a masked tree. I haven't found that it's necessary to also resort to the Clone Stamp tool in that case.

This really helped me a lot. I cut out koi fish for ads and some of the fin detail is a little tough to work with, this just made things so much easier. Thank you

I just looked at: Remove Fringes After Cutting Out Hair in Photoshop. If the background now turns red, wouldn't it also be a fringe in red? How can we do that?
reply

When I hold alt and click the mask, it wont turn black and white, just become selected.
What should I do with that? Could you help me please?
