For the dog and tilt shift thing you have. I cannot figure out why the tilt shift is trying to blur what is inside the subject selection. How do I change that so it is only doing the background? It's trying to blur what is behind the dog. Not the whole thing. Seems like you missed a step (or more.
I think the selection tool needs to be turned off on that layer. It's still shows on the screen. So it's trying to blur what's inside the selected area and not the rest of it. So how do I do this?

nice presentation. If i understand, even the output depth map is not advised today and better to continue with select subject and tilt shift?
The eample with girl in front of landscape seems to have a halo with depth map.
isn't it a better plugin for depth map? legacy topaz lens effect?
I have heard that new iphones have depth map. is it useful? my iphone 8 dosn't have it. also not sure a raw/dng can have a depth map so useless for lightroom/ACR?

Hi
I use your method with Tilt-Shift to blur the background but when I started to photograph Ospreys hunting fish then I struggle with this method because of water drops.
When Osprey start to fly with fish then there are thousands of water drops
So how would you select thousands of water drops and how would you separate water drops from the background?
I tried use edges but it didn't work well
Could you give any advice?

I tried this with a portrait against a very simple canvas background. it had decent results, however like in this video the blur creeped up on the subject. so what i did was select subject and put that selection above the depth blur and then played with the fill/opacity of the depth blur layer to make it more realistic. excited to see if this feature improves! but the best way to create great depth blur is while you are shooting! lol

So, Adobe literally created an in-app feature for an overpriced software that Apple seems to do near flawlessly on the newer iPhones?
I'm not an Apple fanboy, I don't own an iPhone. Adobe's monthly subscription prices are nuts for the average creative or semi-pro. If you don't agree, then I'm sorry and wish I had your pockets.

Thank you for your insightful review, Unmesh. I'll stick with your more traditional technique for now (or actually using a fast prime lens) but this feature does look like it has a lot of promise. And, I'm excited to see it reach its full potential in a future release.

this is an awesome instructional exercise we took in a ton from this and we figured we could improve and better than this, in the wake of seeing this felt us and we will actually want to dominate.
Much obliged.

Artificial blurred images.
I now only use good optics and stop the artificial thing
The real thing with good glass and quality optics beats the artificial stuff. always. and its quicker

The lens blur tool is great if you're using files imported in from 3D software and have the depth map On a layer too.
Way better than tilt shift for anyone that didn't know about it

Hi Unmesh. I love your tutorials. Would it be possible for you to do a tutorial on the warp tool? In case you have already done a tutorial on that, please let me have link. Thanks

You are the man! I've spent hours trying to get that blur neural thingy to work, then I saw the rest of the video. Thank you from the bottom of my defocussed heart!

I strongly believe that Photoshop team don't releases new features. It's you who tells them to release what they need to release!
