t all about arms, it-s everything. Everywhere you look, people are pointing to different studies that show you how to increase protein synthesis with special enzymes. How much caffeine you can consume for maximum pre workout benefit. How abs are something you can get by sleeping, without ever lifting a finger. Do you really believe this? In order to understand when a study you are reading is really real, you have to start looking for a few key things. First, who is conducting the study? Most studies are done at universities around the world however before you think that most of it is being conducted by the professor and trained scientists-think again. Most research that ends up appearing in publications is being done by the students themselves. Most of which are likely never going to pursue a career in research and are more concerned with getting a good grade in the class. When their GPA is at stake, and possibly the real job they will eventually be pursuing in another field, the validity of research can sometimes become compromised. It-s not ideal of course, but it-s the truth. You also want to be aware of the funding of the study. When a supplement study or exercise research is being funded by a third party who stands to benefit from the outcome of the study in one way-you can-t always be sure that you are getting unbiased, honest results. This happens all the time. In fact, in the video I point out two occasions that this happened just recently and was brought to my attention in the comments on my videos. The bottom line is, you may or may not care about the research that goes into the workouts you do. However, if you care about getting big biceps and want to do it as fast as you can, you-ll likely benefit from relying on the bicep workouts that have been based on real science. I recently put one such video up on our channel. I showed you how to use the concentric, isometric and eccentric muscle contraction strengths to your advantage to get much bigger arms. If you want to see this video on how to get monster biceps with this triple contraction technique, as well as other videos on how to get bigger arms be sure to

All the dislikes come from the people that were looking to get 31- arms lol
So Mr. Jeff Cavalier, it's good to know what you stated, but then where do you get your information from? I would to do my own research so maybe you can show us where we can go to find the most credible health & fitness information possible. Thanks for your awesome videos I'm starting A-X 1 on Monday!
I'm using a personal trainer to make sure I have proper form during your workouts cuss I know how important that can be, and to maybe convince him about the bulking and cutting myth cuss right now he looks like he's in the bulking phase lol

Thanks for the information Jeff. Jeff here's a question hopefully you can answer, I'm an ectomorph and I've been training solid for 2yrs. But I've kind of hit a wall to where I can't put on anymore mass. I keep my nutrition in check and train hard. A few friends have told me that because I am an ectomorph that I should train less with fewer reps, sets, and exercises. Personally I do not like training that way, I like to train with high intensity and about 4 days a week. What are your thoughts on how I should approach my training? Would really appreciate a comment/response, thank you.

This doesn't even adress blatant lying in the summaries/conclusions. Or newspapers horribly failing to interpret a study and making some sensational headline. Or simply the study being done wrong / the researcher making the wrong conclusions. There's honestly so many things that can go wrong with trying to study something EVEN if the person is 100% independent and not biased. That you need to be very skeptical about any study that comes out. You can literally create a studie to prove nearly any stance you want.

Jeff my biggest obstacle in bodybuilding is that I am taking 2 steps forward 1 steps backward. For instance, my chest was a lagging part, and I concentrated on it by increasing my set, and switching to a powerlifting bench workout. That worked great and I had a better chest development, but meanwhile my triceps fell. They used to look much better before. And it is always like that, I focus on my traps, my shoulders going away etc.
How to progress in EVERY muscle group Simultaneously?

As a member of the scientific community, THIS IS SO DAMN TRUE. So how do you know when something is legit? Repetition. Multiple studies from different labs showing the same thing and/or being consistent with the claim. Unfortunately, the news is not so great either because they, at best, give a sensationalized title that isn't very accurate or at worst, completely generalize a small study (if you think bro science is bad look at pop psychology)

This is so true in many aspects of life and a perfect example on how universities all over the world manage to extract taxpayers' money for whatever study and come up with the right answer. Also look out for any media story that has somebody on from say xxx charity and then make some wild claim. That charity will have an agenda and will bend the truth or be economical with the truth to further their agenda.

I read an interview to a man who used to be a scientist for a major supplement company. He said in all the studies they conducted the only supplement that was proven to work was creatine monohydrate, but since it's the cheapest one they kept those studies secret. To me the only proven thing that works is work your ass off at the gym and eat clean, that I can vouch for and I'm not a scientist.

I applaud what you are trying to do, health and fitness conmen seem to be in epidemic proportions at the moment. But there are new advancements, what about Pilates, that wasn't around in the 1700's, never seen an antique elliptical cross trainer. There's plenty of specialized knowledge and techniques (trade secrets or tricks) that are being developed all the time for the consumer market.

The new muscle candy is this whole class of -free testosterone - boosters! They are particularly aimed at older men who's Testosterone is waning. The gimmick is a free bottle then the automatic shipping and charging of each successive bottle till you finally decided that it's not working and have to cancel. Don't ask me how I know this. Jeff how can they get away with this?
reply

As a scientist, I just can say that what Jeff says is totally true. Not in all cases, not always, but is very common. I can state that most (lest say 75%) of the science publications are wrong, because are conducted by students barely supervised by professors. You have to be very critic when you read papers.
