s causing all the buzz and start training like an athlete Every industry has its buzz words so it shouldn-t come as a surprise that the fitness and workout followers have their own. The problem is, all of these buzzwords aren-t being used properly. In this video I cover the 6 biggest and most commonly misused fitness workout words and how to more accurately use them. First off is functional training. While in theory functional training is a great thing, in practice it suffers quite a bit. Somewhere along the way, people began confusing functional workouts with circus acts. They felt the more tricky the exercise or workout becomes, the more functional it is. This couldn-t be any further from the truth. In fact, function can be super simple if it fulfills your purpose for training and working out in the first place. If you are a bodybuilder, then functional training for you would be to workout like a bodybuilder. If you are a powerlifter, then functional training for you would be training like a powerlifter. Balancing with your eyes closed, on one leg while doing a max front squat while reciting the alphabet backwards is not functional (unless of course you-re competing in the most screwed up spelling bee of all time! Next up is CNS burnout. This buzzword is incredibly popular these days. This term is thrown around as part of overtraining syndrome. The problem is, while overtraining is incredibly real and occurring to many more people than some would have you think, the signs of first fatigue don-t automatically mean that your central nervous system is burned out. You could just be tired! Rest up, eat well, skip a few days in the gym and you could be back to your old self in no time. Moving on, we have W. O. D-s. Now I-m certainly not picking on Crossfit here as some coaches and boxes clearly understand the idea of planned progressive training. That said, some of it-s followers and even some coaches (no industry has completely perfect coaches) embrace the term workout of the day too literally. If your workout doesn-t build off of what you did yesterday and help you to be better at what you are to do tomorrow, then you aren-t following a training plan. You are just exercising. Time to clear this up and make sure you are. Next up is clean eating. As I say in the video, if you have to say you eat clean, you likely don-t. See, clean eating and nutrition is a way of life, not a short term state of affairs. Very similar to dieting where people refer to being either on or off a diet-eating clean insinuates that at some point you will be back to eating -un-clean-! Trade in the roller coaster for a meal plan that you can actually stick to without feeling deprived

Mobility means control through your entire ROM. Anyone who knows how to train for mobility right, knows that static stretching doesn't get you anywhere. You need to be able to control your flexibility all the way through to the end range which helps prevent injury too. Functional Range Conditioning for example is a great example of this. I believe everyone should add real mobility work to there workouts and by that I don't mean static stretching. Other then that I agree with everything else you said!

Hi Jeff, I like your videos - they're very interesting and helpful for me. I've got a question. I train calisthenics and I'm pretty satisfied with results and my muscles, but I would like to get ripped and go below 10 percentage of body fat. I'm 19 years old - is cutting an amount of calories harmful to my body and growth? Are cardio and burning fat routines better for me to burn fat? Thank you in advance!

Thanks as always for the video!
I have a question: I finished AX-1 a little while back but I'm not yet ready for AX-2.
Should I start over with week 1 or what do you recomend? I'm gonna be able to be back in the gym beginning of April and I'm not sure if I should start again from week 1 or maybe week 5?
Did anyone go through the same?

I hate the word -clean- because there has yet to be an acceptable of it. People bash others because they eat processed foods and sugar and then boast about how they eat clean. Meanwhile they think they're somehow special because they eat dextrose and protein powder (I defy you to find a more processed combination) in their anabolic window.

Hey Jeff, I've been receiving yours emails and they're all resourceful and right to the point. It just kills me that I'm not able to purchase the program at this time. I incorporate your tutorials to my workouts and I know I'm not 100% but at least I know I'm headed in the right direction. awesome work you do

So I'm pretty sure we're all here to get ripped and athlean. This involves a lot of fast twitch muscles and these muscle types also help us in sports like football and basketball. Jeff can you show us more info on fast twitch muscles and how to -activate- them so we can become explosive?

Jeff, which kind of exercises could i do to strengthen my core? Are planks okay to perform every day, and will those strengthen my core or will I need to switch planks up with more intense exercises? I am recovering from a slipped disc at the moment so need exercises that are not intense.
