Bulging discs are one of the most common conditions that will derail your workouts quickly. In this video, I-m going to show you how to fix a bulging disc in your lower back without requiring surgery. In just 3 simple steps you are going to be able to get rid of the pain that is wreaking havoc on your training and making your life miserable. The first thing that needs to be discussed however are the terms used to describe the condition. Some people refer to a bulging disc as a herniated disc. In both cases, we are talking about a scenario where the inner disc material has protruded from the disc but has not reached a point of no return. The point at which the disc can no longer be repaired without surgery is more accurately called a ruptured disc. Bulging discs are a very common problem and one that we all might have to some degree if we were to MRI our backs. The thing is however, just because we may have a disc that is bulging does not mean that we will have symptoms. The only time it starts to matter is when the presence of the disc starts to become symptomatic and interferes with your life or workouts. The good news about disc issues however is that 98 percent of them are non-operative and solved with a dedication to just a few simple steps. One of those steps however is not stretching the lower back. This may come as a surprise to you, especially if you feel that your low back has become tight or sore as a result of your disc issues. Far too many people are told to lay on their back and start pulling their knee or knees up to their chest to stretch out the tight muscles in the low back. They may even be told to get on their knees and sit back on their heels to stretch out all of the muscles of the back. Both of these would be horrible advice because they not only aren-t treating the cause of the problem but they are aggravating the actual cause and making the disc protrude even more. What you need to do is focus on fixing the disc and recentralizing it through extension. If you can do this, the spasm that you are experiencing in the low back muscles as a result of the herniation will resolve once the disc itself is fixed. There are 3 parts to fixing this issue however and it starts with a decompression of the spine to allow

I went the last eight months thinking I had a tight or loose piriformis, but after watching a -Bob & Brad- video, I finally found the one that fits me: Can't lie on my stomach without pain (sciatic pain, specifically. That's too much bulging for Step 3, but they said to put a stack of pillows under you until you can lie there without pain, then just hang out there for a while, and later you would be able to take a pillow out of your stack.
I did this last night and I had to use three pillows under my hips, waist, and trunk to be able to do that, but it felt good. And since I had my forearms under my chest, I was able to kind of pull them down toward my waist, which pulled my torso up while my legs were on the other side of the pillow, and that provided for very nice traction.
Lying flat on my back is a no-go, too. But I had one of the best days ever at work today, so even after just one pillow-stack belly-lying session, I could already tell a big difference at work. I work on my feet all day and had been having to lean forward slightly to keep pressure off the nerve, and was making my lower back really really tired, like -feeling the burn- for the last four hours of every shift, and after coming home, it would take three or four hours of rest before my back didn't feel worn out anymore.

Somehow while DL i felt sharp pain, left home and my back hurted while i was leaning forward with straight back(something like romanian)
I guess it was cuz i did slightly posterior pelvic tilt.
Decopressing rlly helsp25. January
2 weeks passed i felt really fine.
Then while stretchin hemstrings My back got hurt again. In the morning everything was fine. I could walk normal, stand. but after some squatting pain would spread to front thigh. and glutes.
So I guessed it was just ischiadicus.
Day before yesterday while sitting i bented for something on the floor. Sharp pain again(even tho i was squatting just fine that week)
Pain spread across glute and hamstring while benting forward with straight back.
Yesterday morning everything fine, today even better.
I did decompressing and some plank.
I don't have strong symptoms, cuz i can stand from bed Normal walk. idk anymore xD
It kills me cuz nothing hurts while squattin

I did this and at the end I was so chocked at how much lighter I felt and how there was no pain that I burst into unclotrollab tears. I am still crying as I type this.
I have been living with this pain since I was 13 from a gymnastics injury and my parents never brought me to hospital to check in on it, so it got worse over the years and now I am 27 with a herniated disk on my L5-S1 and a dessicated disk on my T11-12 (more recent injury as a consequence of living with my lumbar injury.
I used to be super active and I genuinely thought I could never be active again, but this was an instant relief. I am going to start doing this every day now.
I cannot express how thankful I am. Maybe I can go back to the gym and go fighting again.
Thank you. THANK YOU.

100%
I-ve been in extreme pain for weeks from a bulging disc (two actually as my MRI confirmed) and all of the stretches I-ve been prescribed have only aggravated the issue. I-m not a doctor, so what do I know, but I-ve been avoiding my rehab because I leave feeling worse than I started out. I-ve been getting all this flak for -not taking it seriously-.
Also, my PT told me to do the wall lean Opposite what Jeff demonstrates here. Again, it hasn-t done me any good. So now I-m questioning that too.
I-m so glad I-ve found this video by Athlean-X. I-ve been following Jeff for a while and everything he says in here makes so much more sense. I-m going to abandon all the other stuff and just follow this for a bit. Thank you!

Thank you for sharing these tips. I have a herniated disc and buldge disc in L5 area. I certainly do not want to do the wrong stretches. Last year I had tingly feeling under my right foot which seems to have ceased. Now recently my left foot (the instep to be precise) has started hurting off and on. I do go to PT and chiropractor 3xs per week under workers comp. But they don't cook much there for me other than spine decompressing and use of the T. E. N. S machine. Anyhow, I will be adding the tips you shared as part of my healing process.

100 % Anatomical LIE. I 100 % Guarantee 99% of the World have NOT been diagnosed with a bulging disc. yes you can get a bulging disc given time it heals up. I guarantee he can NOT rectify it. Hospitals would would be doing what he says. General Public do NOT follow any so called advice from above or the posts on the left. Remember I guarantee NOT one of them know what is causing the pain. it could be a very simple strain to Cancer. Do NOT take on any of there so called advice as they do NOT have clue of the cause BEWARE

I've had a history of back problems since high school. Tried everything known with little help. Finally had surgery about 20 yrs ago which helped. Every once in a while my disc will slip and render me helpless with an occasional trip to the ER.
I recently had another slip and immediately went through the process of stretches prescribed by PT and Dr.
Then I happened upon this video and immediately felt much better results.
I can't thank you enough for this information. You are a godsend!
