How important is sleep for muscle growth? Well, if theres one aspect of building muscle and losing fat thats most underrated, its definitely sleep. In fact, sleep may be the exact reason why others seem to progress much faster than you are, or why you just arent seeing the results you were hoping for despite putting in the work. Multiple studies illustrate the importance of sleep for muscle gains. One paper tested this and they found that the sleep deprived group (5. 5 hours per night) lost 60% more muscle mass and 55% less fat than a group that slept 8. 5 hours per night! Thus, you can see how sleep and gaining muscle go hand in hand. And this is likely because sleep impacts your hormones (testosterone, muscle recovery, and workout performance. So long story short get enough sleep! But how much sleep do you need to build muscle? Around 7-9 hours is generally whats recommended, with more active individuals requiring closer to the higher range or even more. But what can you do if you arent getting enough sleep? Well, you can sleep better. There are a few methods you can use to improve your sleep quality and reduce the time it takes you to fall asleep. These include improving your sleep hygiene (avoid electronic use 30 mins before bed, use the bedroom strictly for sleep and where the magic happens, and avoiding caffeine within 6 hours before bed. Other than that, you just need to try your best to get adequate sleep every night. Because failing to do so can definitely negatively impact your gains. Now, sleep is just one of many factors (let alone your training and nutrition) that you'll want to optimize if you're seeking to build muscle and lose fat asquicklyas possible. And if you're looking for a workout and nutrition plan that does this for you by combining all the research I do into a step-by-step program catered to your body type. . such that you can transform your body asefficiently as possible AND maximize your efforts in the gym. Congratulations on your new gym and thank you so much for all of your quality videos. I've watched all of them and l'm implementing a lot of what I learned in my own personal workouts. I'm slowly progressing. I'm 50 years old and 64kgs and suspect have a height similar to yours (around 173cm. I'd love to know where I can get a tank top like the one's you wear in your videos.
Important question: What brand of tank top do you wear? I'm a fellow Canadian in South Korea, but I've scoured all the major sports retailers in North America and can't seem to find a decent fitting tank top like yours.
Where can I get that tank top that you wear in your videos (the blue or gray?
Can someone help me?

Yah.
I am working on constantly optimizing this. Some days I sleep 6-7 hours but most days 3-5 hours because I just cannot sleep. I function just fine for some reason lol. If I did not have a day job and could focus on entrepreneurship more I'd actually prioritize sleeping 9 hours a day every day along with hiring a meal prep chef so I can focus on my craft. Not making any excuses! It's a decision to stay up and get the work done so I can focus on more selfish stuff like this later. Gotta set the foundation.

I always try to sleep early and honestly its mostly on my training days where I dont get enough sleep. I eat enough protein, I make sure Im sore after and I end up waking up an hour before my alarm goes off which is only like 6 hours. Im trying here I really am and I cant. And sometimes I feel like when that happens Im just wasting my time training and doing all of this

Before COVID, when I was a college footballer, I never really got stronger due to no sleep. I slept like 5 hours a day. This was like a 2 year period. I was eating right. I guess sleep was the problem. I couldnt get past 295x8 due to this. In fact it went down Thanks for the info

lets say i wake up at the 4th hour of my sleep session and go back to sleep to finish the rest of my hours of sleep wheather it be 3 or 4, is that still good for muscle recovery or does it need to be atleast 7 hours of CONSISTENT sleep without waking up in between

I started cycling to work at 3: 50am. I normally go to bed at 9pm because of this. That's 6. 5hrs of sleep, if I don't procrastinate going to bed, which is usually something I struggle with. I think I'll just sleep till 4am and go to bed at 8: 30pm. Wish me luck.

I aim for 9 hours. If you have insomnia, program your brain into associating your bed with sleep only. So don't sit on your bed during the day on your phone and laptop. Only use it for rest.
