Steroids vs Natural: 100 Day Transformation

Steroids vs. natural. Does a natty really stand a chance To find out, I’m running a 100-day natural vs steroids experiment. Brandon will undergo natural training using my science-backed strategies, while Todd will undergo enhanced training by hopping on steroids. We’ll track their progress to see who comes out on top. With steroid use on the rise, I want to prove you don’t need them for great results. Or do you Let’s find out. Click below for a step by step plan training plan that reveals all the best exercises you should do for each and every muscle group: Click below to subscribe for more videos: AI Animation Credit: To get the best starting point data possible in this steroids vs natural experiment, we’re using DEXA scans and ultrasounds across all major muscle groups. On Day 1 Todd is coming in at 183lbs and 19% body Fat. While Brandon weighs only 148 lbs but scores a lean 13. 6% body fat. Compared to Todd, we have 2 major advantages in this natural vs steroids competition. First off, Brandon is lean, which means we can focus on gaining weight to maximize growth. Whereas Todd, an aspiring bodybuilder, will soon begin dieting down for his competition. Second, while Brandon isn’t a complete beginner, he’s not as serious of a lifter as Todd. In normal circumstances, this means Todd would build muscle about 3 times slower than Brandon. But we’re talking about steroids. These aren’t normal circumstances, and I’ll need to use every science-based tool I know to help Brandon supercharge his training. First, we’re choosing exercises that maximize this stretch across all his major muscle groups. Next, we’re getting him to actually train to failure. But while I was pushing Brandon with his workouts, Todd’s chemically enhanced body was already performing at a completely different level. So once steroids make their way into your muscle cells, they bind to a powerful androgen receptor. Once bound, they alter your muscle’s genetics to dramatically increase the rates of protein synthesis and recovery. So, although I’ve pushed Brandon’s natural training workout volume and intensity to his l limit, not only does every workout Todd do now lead to more muscle growth, he can also train longer and harder than Brandon yet still be able to recover from it. To make matters worse, Brandon also plays competitive tennis, which adds several hours of cardio on top of his workouts. Based on the research, as long as we get his nutrition down this shouldn’t impact his gains very much, but it was definitely starting to affect his motivation. So how much of a difference will this all make after 100 days Based on prior research, beginner natural lifters can expect to put on about 3. 7 lbs of muscle after 100 days of hard training. Those who undergo enhanced training, however, gain muscle about 3x faster, resulting in over 13 lbs of muscle gain within a similar time period. While Todd definitely had us beat the first month, he’s now spending the rest of his time dieting for his show. Which may slow down his muscle growth just enough for Brandon and I to close the gap. But only if we dial in Brandon’s nutrition. But this wasn’t easy. Brandon is extremely active, playing several hours of competitive tennis per week. So, even after eating 3, 000 calories a day, Brandon was still struggling to put on weight. But after bumping up his nutrition even higher, we finally started to see progress on the scale. After bumping up his nutrition even higher, we were finally seeing progress on the scale. As for supplements, we’ve got a natural supplement we’ll be taking full advantage of - one that could give us as much as a 1-2lb boost in muscle throughout the 100 days. Creatine. I know 1-2 lb doesn’t sound like much, but considering natural lifters typically gain an average of 3. 7 lbs of muscle in 100 days, even a 1 lb boost would be huge. So, what were the results of our steroids vs natural experiment I’ve gotta admit, Todd’s transformation is an incredible feat, even with the help of steroids. And although Brandon built just one-third as much muscle as Todd, he still gained significantly more muscle than the average natural lifter (3. 7 lbs) without spending every waking moment in the gym. As for the ultrasound results, while Todd did have us beat in most muscle groups, Brandon actually saw more growth in his delts, biceps, as well as one leg muscle (rectus femoris, likely due to the special exercises we incorporated. So while I respect Todd’s choice to hop on steroids, in my opinion unless you're as dedicated to competing as Todd, or need testosterone for health reasons, the risks simply aren’t worth it. Brandon is proof that with the right approach, we natty can still make incredible progress without putting our health at risk.

Brandon was bulking too little. I don't know how many protein shakes a day he drank but it was way too little. It looks like his catabolic processes just took over and didn't allow him to grow as much as he would have if he did his diet better. For the most extreme growth, I would recommend setting an alarm clock and drink an additional protein shake every night at 2 AM. Forthermore I would incorporate high-carb, high protein drink/meal immediately after each workout, even after smaller workouts. Although I respect gains Brandon had at the end, I still think you dodn't do well in this regard, Jeremy.
Another thing you didn't do well, Jeremy, was the composition of workouts. I have not seen Brandon do any squats, pull ups or dips. Only some dead lifts. This has IMO translated into lower GH at night time and thus lower growth.
Last thing you didn't do well, Jeremy, were supplements. Creatine was a good start BUT! There are some proven supplements that naturally increase T (Biotin, etc. There are some that inhibit here iron absorption from meat resulting in lower SHBG. Whey protein for increasing MPS is a must.

It is amazing to think that people would give up literally years of life. just to look a certain way without even thinking to achive a Mr. Olympia or a Arnolds tittle: O
Natty. for a longer better life. even if I have a higher fat %. I don't care.
I lift for my bones, muscles, joints and heart. I am a bit carefull at what I eat so that I do not get a negative impact. and as long as I gain some muscle I am golden.
I think the main problem with people who do not accept where they are at, is a mental problem.
There is something stopping you at the top and not at the bicep or quads level: )
After all your body is a machine. the way you treat it, is the exact way it will look and feel.
Give it steriod and you will start to look just like you should. but then expect that with time, you will start to feel what you should: ) win some. loose some: ) time life vs looks

Hey guys! Just wanted to remind everyone to be respectful in the comments, especially towards Todd. Todd was extremely kind to be willing to not only be part of the experiment but allowing us to share the results online. Behind the scenes he was a pleasure to work with. He's also incredibly disciplined and worked his ass off to achieve his results. Lastly, keep in mind that he was dieting for his bodybuilding show. At the time of our final measurements/results, he was just 4 weeks out from his competition. For those unfamiliar, these last few weeks are BRUTAL. It turns you into a walking zombie, regardless of if you are using gear or not. I would be acting the exact same way if I was in his shoes. So please, let's remember there's a real human being on the other end of the computer screen: ). Thanks guys! Hope you enjoyed this one.

Natty vs steroids isn't even comparable. Sure with the better workout, the natty can do great things, but even with a crappy workout, the roids will win. Every time. Now you give the roids an actual great workout routine and a healthy regiment and it's honestly crazy to watch. A decade ago I remember hitting the gym pretty hard with 5 of my friends. We all did about the same stuff give or take, but they went the roids route and I went natty bc I went into the military. I hit pretty hard, but 6 months later they were monsters and I couldnt even compare to them. Roids can wreck your body, but in no universe should someone think they don't work, or that 99% of big jacked people arent on them. AND trying to hit their level as a natty will only hurt you in the end.

Huge props to both Todd and Brandon for their commitment and hard work. I especially appreciate Jeremy's pinned note about being respectful towards Todd. I would like to share a thought - based on Brandon's starting appearance, rate of growth, and active lifestyle, I would argue that he has some pretty top tier genetics. I'm not sure gaining 5 lbs of muscle in 100 days without gaining any body fat is realistic for the average lifter. That said, I understand that the purpose of this video is to show that with serious dedication and discipline, a natural lifter can make INCREDIBLE strides in their health and fitness. Well done to both guys!

The study would benefit from a larger sample size, as the current participant pool is too limited, and Todd was absent for much of the study. I think it would be compelling to see this research conducted with 500-1, 000 participants, though this would introduce significant ethical considerations. Additionally, there are numerous variables such as dosage, quality of substances, training regimens, diet, lifestyle factors, and stressors that make it challenging to draw definitive conclusions. This is why i think many studies on athletes are often considered insignificant or are ultimately dismissed.

Both guys in your video did great! I'm 100% natural, not even taking creatine, but I go to a well known bodybuilding gym where more than 80% of the people are on gear (and compete in bodybuilding. So I can see daily that it makes a big difference, but these crazy dexa-scan numbers make me feel way better about the slower progress I have compared to these guys. I stay natural, because I like to do things the hard way and have certain goals I want my body to reach without chemical help. But I have ZERO problems with people using gear as well.

Todd had some killer gains for sure. But, I think Brandon overall was better. Not due to steroids or natural. But, more on the motivation and I did this. That's a huge driver for me. Seeing the steroids results is very tempting, but seeing what can be done with all natural and long term sustainable with no negative side effects is very encouraging and motivating! Thanks for this! I was honestly considering the juice for a bit. But, I've got all winter (200 days ish) to bust my ass and git gud!
reply

There’s also the fact that’s not mentioned and that is that the rate of growth for natural lifters will slow down at one point in time to the point where even putting on say 1 pound of muscle could take 6 months to a year whereas juiced individuals will continue putting on pounds and pounds of muscle no matter how many years they’ve been training until they stop the cycle altogether. Some obvious examples are to look at some older Hollywood stars and wrestlers and their physiques.

I just think the key takeaway is don't use steroids. They are unsafe and not legally prescribed or available supplements. Even just making and posting videos like this helps to give the impression that taking steroids is an option that Jeremy might consider (if people look at the thumbnail or video title. For me, I don't want to endorse those who use or seem to advocate steroids, as I am against them. I prefer content that doesn't cover them so prominently.

I don't know man Tod he did all that by himself and whereas Brandon He had all the support to get the best shape in 100 days. if tod was to also get through the same procedure say the workout only with Brandon then the results could have been complete mind blowing. It still surprised me but tod did everything on his own which kinda made me upset. Well, overall the video was very informative stay HEALTHY you ALL

Yo Jeremey, would’ve been good to see how Todd was working out in comparison to Brandon. Next time during your interview for the experiment, u should ask if they have plans on moving or going out of town. Yo, upto two hours at the gym, that’s insane. Todd was doing a lot of cardio. I would’ve thought he’s burning muscle. Maybe it’s just a myth anyway, great experiment!
reply

Leave Todd alone. He may just suffer body dysmorphia. We’re seeing a snippet that’s edited. All the people commenting about the negative side effects of steroids haven’t got a clue. I had no negative effects, no roid rage, no acne etc. My life improved. The advice I’d give is try and raise your test naturally first, but getting enhanced when your older will fix most problems.

Hey jeremy, the builtwithscience quiz mostly only focuses on people with fat loss in mind. There are a tonn of us lean skinny guys who also wanna build muscle. Would appreicate if you added those options too. I dont really want to get rid of fat from anywhere in my body, cuz there's barely any lol but that option of fat loss is easy for me is not there
reply

If this proves anything, it proves that steroids do help a lot and that's the EXACT reason those who use PED's always claim this famous sentence hard work pays off, steroids without hard work is nothing. Bruh many studies showed that steroids work with minimum effort, that shit is like a high Watts super charger compared to a regular phone charger
reply

If Todd didn't have the show, his gains would have been more for muscle. Those gains are massive as is, loss of fat and a huge muscle gain. Can't beat the roids. Gotta have love for Todd that he put his gains out there.
The natty side was massive as well! Great coaching and great commitment! Gaining muscle without gaining fat is not an easy feat.

Wow, great case and experiment!
If you'd do such experiments in the future, I would ask to switch to machines instead of dumbells and cables for natty lifter.
Because machines might be better in stimulating target muscle, rather that dumbells, - they need too much neuro adaptation to occur before any benefit for novices.

Interesting to see the gap in the final results. It seems like there has to be more thought given to recovery strategies so that the natty person can exercise with more intensity and for longer durations if desired. Tools like sleep hygiene, hydration levels, cold exposure between sets/heat exposure after exercising, pemf, HBOT

Hey jaremy I'm 15 and I've been going to the gym for 3amd a half months now and i
Don't see change on my pecs, i did flat dumbell press and chest flyes and pec deck flys i don't see much results even tho i gaind 2 inches on my arms and i got a bit wider shoulders and some muscles on the back, so what can i do to grow my pecs

reply

wow the honesty nowadays!
For me its just crazy that i can still hit the gym as hard as i can for 2h 2 times a week(Family and Stuff) and still see at least a little bit of growth every now and then, but of course one maybe 2 simple roid cicle and he could easyli catch up to me and then beat me after the third.
