Back in the day (and we are talking 37 years ago) in basic training we had an inter troop competition, basically an adjusted Combat Fitness Test, We wore, Boots, Combat Jacket & Trousers, T-shirt, full 58 pattern Combat Equipment Fighting Order (CEFO, Mk6 Helmet and carried an SLR, approx overall weight 22 Kg (after all they didn't want to kill us)Started with an 8 Mile March in 1 1/2 hours (Normal CFT was 2 hrs) from the beach in Deal, Up and over the cliffs until arrival at Dover, up past the castle, down past the cemetery followed by the same elevation up the other side across farmland and into Old Park Barracks, Through the barracks to the assault course, short stop to don the NBC Suits and Respirator, followed by the assault course, a 50 meter Fireman's carry (then being carried back 50 m by your partner)and finishing with a 25 meter 5 round shoot whilst still wearing the respirator, This was usually followed by lots of throwing up and blistersThankfully only the march was time limited, the remainder was as quick as you could do it (although the overall time taken was marked to indicate who won, Due to injury, I had to rejoin basic training with another troop, and had to do it again, thankfully that was the last occasion, Sadly the Barracks is no longer there, but the memories will last a lifetime, I enjoy watching these, imagine how many tests were undertaken in a 23 year military career.

All tests are done in fighting kit. I. e. webbing. Body armor. Rifle. Helmet so that will add a level of difficulty you guys havnt experienced there. The fire and manouver its to simulate attacking an enemy position. And is controlled you bound forward and then lay in position for 8 seconds to simulate firing your rifle you do that 20 times. You then have 55 seconds to do the combat crawl and sprint. The jerry can carry ive been told we can run but when you're holding those jerry cans and have all your kit on makes it much harder But remember this is meant to be all done one after the other not much rest between and all are done wearing boots. Webbing. Body armor. Helmet and rifle.

I have two challenges for you to go for: Here is the first in this comment. The Burpee MileThe Facts: Exactly as it sounds: complete one mile of burpees. Find a track, do a burpee followed by a broad jump. Repeat for four times around the track or 1600 meters. The Brutality: On average, athletes complete 600-800 burpees over the course of a mile. No walking allowed. Thats a hell of a lot of burpees, and while this will tax all of the muscles in your body, it will likely present the biggest challenge to your willpower. The Challenge: The average finish time is about 90 minutes with the number of burpees based on the length of your broad jump.

thanks for proving to us that bodybuilders is just for aesthetics rather than an actual functional (strength endurance stamina and durability) combination. I don't blame you lads, you look insane I suppose it all depends to individual goals init. All that muscle does actually take so much of the oxygen so yeah, fair play to you lotP. S And by the way when I say strength I don't mean you are not strong, I've seen a few of your vids where you lift some heavy af shit, I mean in a combination with other stuff, which lets face it, with your size hardly, if at all, achievable.

for national service in russia and yugoslavia there was not an entry fitness test as they recruited everyone. during 6 months of basic training there was a set of morning exercises, 2k run, then 10 repeats of pushups, situps and various others. there was the summer and the winter sets of exercises. I am not aware of any actual testing and measuring of fitness levels, apart from measuring the time for doing the obstacle course. this was for infantry I suppose special forces and paras had it tougher

This would explain why I will be having knee surgery on both knees in the next 5 years. Pretty much wearing a knee brace everyday now because of 9 years of life in the British Infantry. Yep it's a good life but there nowhere to be found when the wear and tear catches up with your body later in life. Because when your young and dumb carrying a Milan missile platform around Catterick seems to be a good idea, and running up and down the Pen Ye Fan at Brecon seems like a better idea.

The times for all these tests are correct and passable because I did it when these new tests come into effect and passed them all first time. Also the Tab and run is done with body amour, helmet and carrying a weapon none of this counts towards you weight either. Also the fire and manoeuvre is done with webbing weighing 10kg, wearing body armour, helmet and carrying a weapon. Nice try though.

16: 00 I've carried hundreds of jerry cans; just some insight I'd like to share. I personally hate running or walking long distances with them because they swing and hit the side of your legs, making it difficult to walk in a straight line. You did it in 1 minute 33, but it'd be almost impossible to run with them, so thats why the requirement is 4 minutes as opposed to like 2.
