My trips to these types of museums is always ruined by some God Dmned goofy loud kid/s and their liberally permissive parents. I have never been to even a single place that the trip wasn't ruined because some loud kid/s who would not shut up and his parents stand around with both hands and their heads rammed up their own asses. I cannot understand why these places do not/will not offer adult only periods. Had me or my little brother acted like that MOM & DAD would snatched our asses out of there so fast we'd of had whiplash to go with the asslash we got at car. We didn't act like that because my parents cared about other's experience. The only thing worse are a bunch of ghetto negroes talking their offensive gutter negro blobonics so loudly everyone in the whole damn room has to hear their sht. Fcking disgusting so I just stay home.

Cool, thanks for the walk-through It looks a little roomier than it really would have been because of the removal of some equipment, specifically racks and bunks in the torpedo rooms, and that maneuvering room looked luxurious without the electrical cubicle. My observations: Very similar to a Gato, but the most striking differences to me were the control panels on the forward bulkhead of the maneuvering room (aft of the cubicle on a Gato, at least with GMs, and the sonar room in the forward torpedo room. The shafts of the sonar heads run just forward of that bulkhead on either side of the door in a Gato, but the operator is actually located up in the conning tower, the sonar room omitted. The galley is also a lot more open than the boat I am used to. A very small serving window on an EbC Gato.

Enjoyed the video, was well paced got to see a lot, thanks to the camera person. Good to see the Americans thought of a lot of home comforts even in so small a space and in comparison to what the Germans had in their U - Boats, I would definitely choose the U. S boats. Small comforts adds to high morale. The boat was very well planned out compared to the U Boat video I seen, that was very cramped. My hat off to the serviceman/women serving on submarines and in the armed forces full stop

This sub has the distinction of sinking the last Japanese ship in WWII. She wasn't carrying the full complement of 24 torpedoes so yeah the fore and aft torpedo rooms were spacious feeling. It's a great boat to tour as well as the light ship and the Coast Guard corvette( it's the last ship afloat that was at Pearl Harbor on Dec 7th during the attack. If you do visit make time to go to Annapolis Naval Academy naval museum (35 min drive) well worth it.

With the noisy kids and the panning of the camera, this video was most enjoyable by putting the play speed at. 25 That automatically mutes the sound. Really makes the tour by doing this. Note to poster: Thank you for not talking during the video. That's how I shoot video. I require everyone around me (GF, family) to STFU while I am shooting my video. I don't want them ruining production. When I'm shooting they all know to shut up. :)

One thing that is immediately apparent about WWII era US Fleet Boats is that they had far more lavish accommodations for the crew than their contemporaries in the Kriegsmarine. Especially the enlisted men, they even had their own dining and rec area. The American officers, oh my god: separate sets of staterooms and even a proper wardroom. A wardroom In a WWII era submarineComparatively speaking, these guys were living in a luxury hotel.

Served on the USS Catfish in the late 50's early 60's. Wonderful memories of patrols made in northern pacific, down to the Phillipines and upkeep in Yokosuka, Japan. At 81 the memory gets a little foggier each year. Thanks for the refresher. Come see the USS drum in Mobile Alabama, well done on bringing her back to life. DBF.

It's sad the inside doesn't look like this anymore. You'd think they would try to keep her polished and cleaned out of respect for the men who served on her. It still was an amazing experience though.

Three stripes indicate he's a first class petty officer. Three stripes and a chevron indicates he's a chief master petty captain corporal. Three stripes, a chevron, and a bar indicates he's a dick.
