I don't know, it just feels like there's a lack of innovation or maybe just an unusual number of missteps with this ride. It's like the Imagineers sent in their B Team: 0: 10 & 0: 21 This place is WAY too clean and new looking to fit the mold of a haunted mansion ride. 0: 15 Instead of being set upon a pedestal or recessed in an alcove, the busts are floating above foliage in a window. In what way does that make ANY SENSE? 1: 15 All of the door knockers pound in synch with each other and at the same speed. This doesn't sound like many ghosts knocking on doors, it sounds exactly like what it is: the rhythmic pumping of hydraulics. 1: 33 The shadow of the piano ghost sways lazily from left to right. Compare this to the Disney World equivalent where the ghost's arm move independently and sharply in synch with the notes of the music. 5: 00 The Grim Grinning Ghosts segment is populated by way to many leftover skeletons from the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. Too much of the visual iconography was borrowed from the original 2 Haunted Mansions, which yeah, that's kind of required, but it doesn't quite jive with Phantom Manor's narrative.

Unlike the party that is going on in the haunted mansion attractions in the states, this story is actually much darker and indeed depressing. You go through the house and meet Melanie Ravenswood as we see how she grows older and becomes a ghost (the only good ghost) where you as a visitor literally go to hell where you can see Thunder Mesa in the underworld that the earthquake caused at Thunder mountain. Her father (The phantom) keeps her prisoner and the last scene shows that she pulls you out of hell, back into the manor. But Melanie will suffer forever under the shadow of the phantom as punishment because she wanted to marry a simple railway worker. who was killed by the phantom before (stretching room) where each stretch painting shows how she dies in several ways. This is probably the darkest story of all Disneyland attractions with no happy ending and no silly spooks, but demons. We Europeans like dark stuff, if a house is haunted, let it be by demons than to scare the kids with it. :)

Cool
I think whats so interesting about this ride is that its the first and most notable haunted mansion where they explicitly went out side of Walts guidelines. He always said some thing like we take care of the outside the ghosts take care of the inside. Meaning the outside looks clean but the inside can be as creepy as it wants. The dilapidated state of the manor and its grounds are unlike any other. I think its also worthy to note that the house was built over a sacred native site so thats why melodys father was moved to commit such tragedies. This ride is by far the most interesting and eye catching of the haunted mansions and I HIGHLY suggest visiting Euro Disney, lord knows they need it.

Ive always heard this was one of the best renditions of the Mansion. I like the descent into the crypt and the more clearly outlined story, but other than that the animatronics are weaker than even the Disneyland originals, the tone is confusing, the music and sounds rarely match up, the scenes are in a weird order that takes you out of the feel of Im in a house, and theres a random Wild West fight at the end? What gives? What do people like MORE about this?

Okay, so this is the forth video I have seen of a ride at Disneyland Paris and may I just say Disneyland Paris looks so much more fun and so much cooler than our Magic Kingdom here at Disney World in Orlando, FL. Visiting Paris has been the top of my bucket list for many, many years and now Disneyland Paris is right at the top of my Paris must do list. It makes the one here in Florida look lame.

This one just doesn't have the same feel that made the original so great. It doesn't have the funeral bit, the attic, it goes through the house so quickly. Then the graveyard is so morbid where the original was a bit more lighthearted. Instead was the western town. Like how do you get that out of a New Orleans mansion? I do like some of the updates like the effects, but I prefer the original.

as someone who frequently rides the WDW haunted mansion, i got to say, i like the darker theme of this extended version, but it is more confusing than the American versions. its different, but not as clear cut as going through an attic and learning the story of the bride. i feel as though they tried too hard with the story in this version, as there is so much visual clutter.

It would be great if Sally mean and andrea corr entered an abandoned ghost train and as the investigate it they both fall into a small hole full of gooey slime and get covered in it. Andrea corr goes oh as she has sticky gooey slime dripping from her arms and Sally mean is Covered in goo from head to toe.

Ahh, good ol' Vincent Price with the Phantom laugh. I love the story of Phantom Manor, it's well thought and tied to the whole Frontierland/Thunder Mesa area of Disneyland Paris. If I ever get there, that's the first ride I'm going on I like my goof spoops, but damn do I love my dark as hell spoops.
