Some friends push you to spend money on scenic flights while other friends might push you to go run until 11pm the day before a big day out. Either way youll be happy you listened to your friend. At least until your wife sees the bill or your knee needs surgery. On this episode we wrap up our Alaskan adventure with a 7500 ft climb to the summit of Pioneer Peak in the Chugach mountain range. The perfect ending for a hard charging trip to the last frontier. Seriously though, my wife must never find out how much I spent on that scenic flight

Hey if you guys ever get the chance there's a few hike/trail runs in the northeast I think you guys would love. The presidential traverse in the white mountains the pemi loop in the white mountains and the great range traverse in the adirondacks. All in the ballpark of 10 thousand feet elevation gain and if you did all three youd be climbing about 30 mountains. Presidential you climb mt washington highest point in new hampshire a full great range traverse you climb mt marcy the tallest point in New York and then the pemi loop is just incredible

Having grown up in Palmer and done the south peak this is a super impressive video, but I wouldn't downplay how sketch the Chugach choss is for folks who aren't familiar with the area looking to get after it up there. Multiple people have passed away going for the north Pioneer peak so it goes without saying to be careful. Personally I prefer the solid granite of the Talkeetnas to the north myself.

Another killer hike. I did about 8. 5 miles and 4, 000 ft of climbing in Wyoming in August, so I'm getting tired out just watching this one! I'm guessing these guys are about my age, and I marvel at how they still have the knees to do all the running that they do. (I gave up running for biking and swimming a while back) Those trekking poles can really make a difference though.

Wow that looked beautiful. Thanks for the awesome video. In the alps, we also had awesome weather for most of September. The allowed some longer outings in the past weekends, e. g. Hausstock by fair means (about 17 miles, 9000' vert, T5 scramble on the european scale. Now the weather has changed and it is snowing down to 2000'!

Me and some friends were up there a month and half ago. That black backpack is ours! It was so heavy and uncomfortable that we left it up there hoping to retrieve it on our way back. Ended up losing the trail and kinda getting lost. Thankfully made it back but couldn't get the backpack! Hike took us 23hrs

This is the type of country and terrain I used to love albeit in the Alps and Scotland but now at 81 I did my last ridge scramble a year ago and sadly, as bionic hips and knees have not arrived now I can only look back on it and enjoy these videos.

Christof I can relate, I have these friends that when you spend all day skinning to some remote hut and you just want to relax, have a beer and enjoy the view they try to squeeze in just one more run, exhausting but in the end always enjoyable! :)

I climbed this with two friends about 30 years ago. My friends did not attempt the true summit. I used a rope to rap down a short distance and reached the true summit alone. There was a set of moose antlers on the summit! Great memory.

useful trivia: pioneer peak was firsted by Joseph Smith Junior and Brigham Young in 1838.
They were wearing Lederhosen and a Bergzeit Jacket. And celebrated the summit
with a half gallon keg of Polygamy Porter.

So that small river ford you do to get to Portage Glacier? There may or may not be a way to hike to the source. You didn't hear it from me. Food for thought for the next adventure up here.

Just FYI, It is incredibly dumb to climb around inside melting ice caves that are in the process of collapsing. People get killed playing glacier roulette in AK more often than you'd think.

Your cinematography just gets better and better. I started binging your vids a month or two ago, just incredible and inspiring. And as a fellow filmmaker pretty darned impressive!

McDonald's. WHYyyyyyyy. everything you guys do is so fun to watch except for the consumption of copious amounts of bad food. i have a granola bar recipe ill send it to you

Awesome video. Hope you guys find yourselves back in AK sometime. We have no shortage of beautiful trails. Our summers are specifically designed for hiking out past 11pm.

Wow you guys are so amazing! Thanks for taking us in your pocket on these journeys! Love the humor and energy you have. Stay safe and keep sharing your adventures.

You guys are inspirational, Id love to do half of the climbs you guys do. How do you turn hard uphill climbing into an enjoyable experience?

Two questions. Have you, or will you ever climb Denali? And have you or could you do a gear video? I'm very interested to see what gear you use.

1: 20 took me back to 2017 when 100+ of us stomped up and down the runway in snowshoes so the planes could land to take us back to Talkeetna

We were told we couldn't make it to the north peak, so of course we ran across in shorts, trail runners, and no climbing gear. Love you guys!

We went to Portage Glacier when we were there a few weeks ago. Totally worth it! I wish we had gone all the way to the glacier like you did.
