You guys are so lucky! That would have been my dream job, I don t not gotten sick with Crohn s disease and cancer. I spent my entire life on or near the water. As a kid I spent three months of every year in the summer at my cottage, most of that time I was on the water or in the water, I love it so much that I decided to become a sea captain, but just as I was starting university to study for it I got sick, and from the age of 20 until now that I m 51, I ve spent the last 31 years in the hospital, well, in the hospital more than I was at home at least, destroying my chance to ever pursue my dream job of being captain of a ship that big. It s the type of thing where either you love it or you hate it but there is no in between, and I loved it, I loved it so much, I just imagine how many voyages around the world I could have been on already if it wasn t for this damn cancer that has taken my entire adult life from me, along with all of my dreams and goals. Sorry, but every time I watch a video like this a flood of wonderful memories come rushing back, and then I get pissed off because I wasn t give me the chance to fulfil my dreams, and now that I live on permanent long-term disability, even though I desperately want to, who would hire me? Who would allow me the opportunity to Captain a vessel that big? I suppose it s just a pipe dream now, but it s one that I stubbornly hang onto. But whoever shot this video, if you are indeed a member of the crew you have no idea how lucky you are, I would literally give everything I had for the opportunity of heading up command of a vessel like that. It gets to a point where the sea becomes your home, and you can instinctually feel the weather long before any meteorologists can tell you what the weathers going to be. It s such a wonderful Feeling to be out on the water and free, there s no words to describe just how incredible that feels, I just pray to God that before I die I get the opportunity to go on at least one cruise, especially now that I m done having surgery because there s nothing left to operate on, thanks for the video, and just be so thankful to have what you do

Ps - in addition to my previous comment, you were saying that you weren t able to relax or sleep, what are you an amateur or something? That s what hammocks are for! Up until I was 20, like I said I lived on the water, I also used captain a small fairy at my cottage that took people from the main dock to several other small islands in the lake, it didn t matter what the weather was, we went every single day from the first day in spring to the last day in the fall, and most times people had to get me to leave the ship because I wouldn t, I just loved it way too much. Even in rough seas, we would work in tandem, to prevent major fatigue, so while my coworker was steering the ship, I d hop into my Hamic and let the waves gently rock me to sleep. Never in my life that I ever sleep so well, just the rocking motion of the huge waves as your Hamic swings you gently to sleep it s a feeling unlike any other. I always slept like a rock, ironically on the land I can never sleep properly, I never could. But put me on board a ship during rough weather and I pass out cold! I just have to find ways to go with the rhythm of the waves, because you can t do anything about them, you have to adapt, otherwise why bother?

8-9 METERS for the wave height. That is absolutely crazy. I work on a small cabin survey boat most days out of the year and we have to shut it down when the waves are around 3 feet high

You should try sleeping in the sleeper of an 18 wheeler while it is rolling down the highway. You sleep about a foot off the bed and your ribs hurt for the first two weeks.

I get seasick very easily unfortunately. Just listening to him describe the constant motion and the struggles that come with it, kind of made me nauseous already. :
