When you grow up in the area and you go to Mystic and Mystic Seaport every year as a school field trip it doesn't mean anything special. Now as an adult, living away from the area, I miss it soo much! I used to live in Stonington Borough, I miss the smells, the sights everything (I don't miss the snow, I live in FLA now. I brought a friend who is a born and bred Floridian, she loved all the buildings and sites. I took tons of pictures to refresh my memory. A lot has changed, but Mystic and Stonington thankfully have not. Also, traveling from NYC take the Merritt PKY, avoid I95 New Haven to New York City. I never drive into the city if I don't have to, park and take a train or drive around the city. Also another village in the area worth the short ride and walk around, Noank (excellent lobstah at Abbott's Lobster in the Rough, not quite as touristy

good video as a local we never go to Mystic pizza. Mango's at Mystic Village is probably the best pizza around. Only Negative I have is half of Mystic is in Groton CT and even tho you recommended places on that side of the river you failed to say the name of the town. Also us local's generally hit mystic in the off season it's great weather wise generally in late March till end of May and then from September to November

Traffic has never been a big issue in the twenty years or, that I have visited. Summer is O. K. But Fall is definitely the best Time to see during The Month of October. There are many ways to save money if need be, whether you stay a few nights at a mid priced hotel, restaurant, ect. Winter is a definite NO, But always a great Place to come and visit.

Living in Springfield, Ma, its only an hour and a half away so when we dont feel like driving to the Cape, well go here. Its one of the places we usually go to almost every year. I thought the Seaport was okay, but I still love Sturbridge Village better. Though my favorite place to go here is those little shops in front of the Aquarium. So eclectic.

The fall is where it's at. Still not too cold and also less tourists. Although winter is great to, and you avoid tourists. Just dress for the occasion and and drink hot coffee. You can have virtually the whole place to yourself. If you are in the NYC area just leave at night after 9pm to avoid traiffic, and it's a pretty short drive

I lived in Mystic in the early 90's (for 6 years) and we locals LOVED when the tourists left. It's a very small town and when the tourists invaded we avoided downtown. Looks like it's gotten worse. I would recommend venturing outside of Mystic. Check out Old Saybrook, etc. Mystic is way too tourist-y

Oh, so it's an open-air museum of sorts! Cool. :-) I like it when old regional architecture gets preserved in at least this way. And it helps that this particular museum is maritime-focused, it gives it a unique flavour. A pity that it seems to be pricy even by American standards.

Don't blame I95 on Mystic. And oh yeah who would ever expect that the sea shore would be busy in the summer. And please you are a tourist. Don't blame Mystic for the tourists. Yeah it's expensive. We residents have the same complaint, but just look around. We like it.

Nice job on the Mystic video Mark. I liked that you covered the good and bad such as limited access to get to Mystic from New York City and New York State. Stonington has some great places to get some awesome seafood and clam chowder. Thanks Mark. well done.

Hate huh? Well, we Americans are rather known for that word and I suppose it is appropriate. Was dislike to weak for us Americans? Did you ever let your kids use hate? We never heard the word in our family. Best of luck and thanks for an excellent video.
