Good intro. Lived outside of Brussels for 3 years. Great city. Not as touristy maybe as Paris, but definitely worth visiting. We used to sit at tables on the Grand Place drinking the best beer in the world and watching tourists pile out of buses with their cameras clicking away. Word to the wise, don't try to visit as many places as you can. Pick one or two and spend some time there. And as for the Atomium, it's pronounced a-TOE-me-um. It is the site of the 1958 Brussels World's Fair. Google it. And please note, Brussels is bilingual. French and Flemish (Dutch, but because it is such an international city the majority of the people speak at least some English. It was a great place for me to perfect my classroom French. Especially in clubs. The more beer I drank, the better my French became. Go figure.

Well, one of my favourites is the music instruments museum (MIM. They have the collection of instruments from around the world, with as a few top pieces half the collection of Adolphe Sax (inventor of the saxophone, the harmonica of Toots Tielemans and old instruments from the days of Bach, Beethoven and Mozart to the synthesizer of the 80's. Quite interesting for music fans.

It's very funny your sights choice. I'm french and we go in Brussels, it's to drink beer, eat french fries with mussels, eat waffles and visit the european parliament (also see the mannequin Pis fountain.

nice shirt, very blue. Thanks for the highlights, but are there techno clubs, dance places, fun night life zones? What are the nicest restaurants and hotels? Any good youth hostels?

You can also visit the Train world museum. It is located next to the Schaarbeek train station. Lot of cool trains and wagons from the mid 19th century to the 1970's.

Wolter, thank you for setting the standard of travel videos on youtube. When I go to a new place, I'm happy when I find a video you made about it.

Check out the stuffed horse in 'Roi d'Espana' bar in the bottom corner of the Grande Place. Great beers and chocolates to be had also.

If your interested in good quality shoping and good architecture, you should definitely go in the gallery right next to grand place!
