Southeast New Mexico and West Texas are home to multiple national parks and tons of fun cities like El Paso, Roswell, Las Cruces & Terlingua. On a recent road trip, my dad and I spent five days driving through this area and visiting those cities, as well as Big Bend, Carlsbad, and White Sands National Parks. Come along on this road trip with us and make plans to experience this area for yourself. Let me know what we missed in the comments! I did almost exactly this same road trip with my brother last spring. It was a lot of fun and cool to do a trip with him. There is some pretty good camping just south of Alamogordo at Oliver Lee State Park. Where they went with the train bridge is near Cloudcroft in the mountains. It's pretty crazy how this mountains feel like you're in the middle of Colorado, but 30 minutes in either direction you're in the middle of the desert. I would recommend that area to pretty much anyone. Roswell was fun too, and the UFO Museum is a fun little stroll with some interesting bits of history.

My son and I take many epic road trips. Most memorable was Rapid City, Mt Rushmore through the Black hills to Devils tower. Then through Montana to Yellowstone, up to into Canada and Banff National Park back through Calgary down to Little Big Horn and Stergis. 3, 200 miles in 9 days. This video has identified our next trip this spring. Living in Austin TX we might just drive from here asking ourselves why we never thought to visit our own backyard!

I am from Michigan but now live in Roswell, NM. I can't believe that you didn't visit Lincoln, NM, home of the Lincoln County War and Billy The Kid! Very likely the best preserved Old West town in the USA. Carlsbad Caverns is absolutely amazing! I have done this trip and then some, rugged but beautiful.

O my gosh i love the ghost town man. I wonder in the hotel where you at? Is it not haunted? Maybe some of the spirits of those buried might visit in there because its a very cool place to be in. i love this exploration especially you did it with your dad its pretty awesome.

I was born and raised in Alamogordo and spent most of my youth at White Sands. I haven't been there in many years as I lived all the USA but it sure brought back alot of memories of my life watching your trip. Thanks!
