My wife's relatives will pour wine and beer into glasses that are not empty yet. They seem to make sure that your glass is always full. On the other hand my father-in-law, who was born in Greece and became an American, used to say that vacationing in Greece is great, trying to get anything done in Greece is a nightmare. So right on with regards to Greek time, plus some other things like having to provide the tools for the workers and giving them coffee or beer, and a snack or two. All things that as an American I find very, very odd.
I'm an American, I've been coming to Greece for over 20 years, I have never needed anything other than my American driver's license (and a credit card) to rent a car. That's at least 20 car rentals, most of them at the island my father in law is from, but also from Athens and a few of the big tourist islands. Never once had a problem. One thing to note, a car with an automatic transmission is going to cost you more. You can still get cars with a manual transmission, not a problem for me, I can drive a stick, and they are the cheapest options. You have to go with a bigger and more expensive rental car to get an automatic transmission.

About the night ferry vs flight. Honestly, the ferry sounds like a much better idea. In Norway we have a night train between Oslo and Trondheim. It takes about 8 hours, while the flight takes 45 min or so. If you buy the sleeping compartment then the train might be more expensive than the flight (for 2 persons) but you are going to sleep in place A and you wake in place B. No time spent on travel, except getting to the train and from.

I love Greece and I was a frequent visitor who always stayed at hotels in Greece, at least 60 days each year. But I will not visit Greece until the documents about Covid, and all the questions about vaccines and also all restrictions will be removed. See you in 1 year! Or 10 years? It's up to you, dear Greeks! The very best of the bests!

Not bringing a gift, might be rude from one Greek to another. I don't believe they expect a foreigner to know that and for sure, no matter what they will feed you until you explode (gift or no gift) Just be sure to say how much you enjoyed the food, cause this will be more rude even for foreigners: -)

We used to get the ferry from Ancona (Italy) to Igoumenitza, overnight, and it was such an adventure! As kids we loved it. We brought some inflatable mattresses and sleeping bags and just slept on the deck. Or we fought other people for the lawn chairs to sleep in those: p such great memories!

Two fairly wealthy jerk offs have offered to take me to Greece. The catch is I have to make arrangements and decide where to go. They want to party is up, chase women all that. Me, I just like art and photography and stuff, but can anyone recommend a place? I was thinking Mykonos.

Funny, Rick Steves said in one of his podcasts said you don't really need an international driver's license in Europe. They will still rent you a car. Hmmm, maybe Greece is different.

Well, Gyro means round cause the meat rotated itself in the pole. It's like the word Gyroscope Gyrocopter etc and is pronounced Wero (as you say in your video: D )
