have you ever visited anywhere like Haiti. I just got back from a trip there and was just wondering. :) i love these videos im going to spend most of june in france and luckily i get the chance to spend time in paris, normandy, and a town called cholet. Im uber pumped and glad to know french a bit better than the two or three years in hs people usually get. Your videos make me even more pumped to go. Thanks so much!

I have some safety tip videos that might be helpful for you and the basic top 10 lists. But really you are the same as any other traveler, you want to see cool stuff, experience cultures and have fun, and most of these videos work if you are 15 or 51. So no worries. It's fantastic = c'est fantastique
When you say est fantastique you're actually saying is fantastic.
Also pronounce the word pays: PAY-YEE. The s is silent too by the way. It's hard to explain how to pronounce it 100% properly with the accent, but PAY-YEE is very close for most English speakers.

Cool video, I totally agree with your point about trying to speak the language. Makes a huge difference. And study up a bit before you go. It will pay off. I went to Paris in the spring. Before I went, I studied some CD's I got at the library. It helped, it really did. Cet video: c'est tres bien.

You are not an idiot if you do not speak french, frenchs themselves are not idiots at the point of not understanding that a tourist does not obligatorily speak french. Btw, it is not est fantastique ( is fantastic ) but c'est fantastique (this is fantastic ). Have a good stay.

His accent is off, but probably realistic for most Americans. An honest effort will almost always get a friendly response. The farther one travels from the large cities, the less likely one will find people who speak any English.
