Pura Vida! Nothing symbolizes Costa Rica more than the catch all phrase Pura Vida. It symbolizes the free loving spirit and wonderful laid back attitude of the Ticos, the Costa Rican people. Costa Rica is a fabulous place to visit with many national parks, great beaches, tasty fruits and foods and so much more. This video covers what tourists and travelers should NOT do when they go to Costa Rica. The Don'ts of visiting Costa Rica

If you want to save money go to Costa Rica during the rainy season. It is their off season and you can get some really good deals around this time. I used a travel agent to book my trip and it cost me only half the regular price. Most people dont want to go during the rainy season so the hotels have really good prices around that time. The good news is I was there for a week and I didnt get wet not one time. It usually rain in the late afternoon and evening and only for short periods of time (around 30 minutes. Most of the excursions are in the morning and early afternoon. You usually are done with your activities by the time the rain comes. The locals usually try to plan excursions early to avoid the rain. Even if you get wet it so worth it because you are having so much fun. Dont let a little rain ruin your fun. Beside Costa Rica is so hot a little rain is welcome.

the new big taxes that came with the new laws called IVA that adds 13% to a lot of services and products but anyway if you find the good place is gonna be cheap here just ask to the locals where they buy the most common products to save money in my experience I could recommend the Pali and some Chinese grocery stores but I the problem with the chinos is that they don't pay taxes so it doesn't help to the country. So go the most cheap super or grocery stores that are around you and don't pay anything with dollars because is a rip off. Stay away from the big restaurants because they're super expensive even for the rich people. The local sodas or Los mercados are a good affordable option.
Greetings from Zona de Los Santos, Costa Rica. The place with one the best coffee's of the world. Check out and have a Pura Vida

Many roads in Costa Rica are narrow and curvy and they have many steep gutters next to the road, so if you slip off the road a little, they could get caught in a pit, and who knows what could happen. Also not well lit at night, and many Ticos drive crazy. The thing that surprised me, is that cars don't pull over when the police are behind them with their sirens on. Apparently because many roads, have these gutters, you can't pull over, so people just keep going. How you know if the police want you to pull over - I didn't figure that out. I would avoid driving in San Jose, heavy traffic, not worth it.

He is right on prices for places to stay, but have to disagree about food, drink, and stuff. If you stay in big tourist areas, you will pay those prices. Get away from those places. Don't be afraid to drive. I can be nerve racking, but it is also a bit free to. Rules are just suggestions, lol. Eat at mom and pop stuff! We took $700 for a week to spend. I came home with $300 and we didn't skimp on anything.

Im a tico, and yes, sun is really strong, when I was like 5 years old I suffered a sunstroke, if my family didnt find me and acted quickly, I wouldnt be here telling the story, not a good experience I must say, also Im a magnet for mosquitoes, back in childhood, whenever i went to visit relatives, we didnt have bug spray, a total nightmare trying to sleep.

costa rica is safe, you are living in a luxury hotel and with safe tourist transportation no crimes ha you are hilarious, other people witness of high crime being robbed, even a woman I am going to meet there she is a local tells me it is not safe to go out in the night keep your cellphone hidden and dont show your wallet, that is how safe it is

I do appreciate your videos but i absolutely don't agree with Don't # 4. Been 18 days in CR in Oct. 2019 and I was advised to take care about where to go at what time plus better using taxis instead of walking plus being a few times in situstions that i never had again in any following country I've travelled to. And now I'm in Peru.

They don't take dollars in the central valley for the most part so if you're in Heredia or San Jose you need colones. In touristy areas near Liberia, however, yes dollars are taken at many places. But if you want to really experience Costa Rica outside of the touristy places, you'll be using colones only.

One of the worst things tho is the traffic, the roads aren't the best, specifically anywhere else that isn't the main highways. Going from Puntarenas to El Roble logically should take like 14 min but on bus it ends up being like 40 min. So yeah, do try and keep that in mind

I have started researching retiring there and I enjoyed your video. It's nice to find a helpful testimonial that isn't full of smug gringos mugging for the camera, which are the kind of people I want to move away from. Good job.
