Flight Attendants keep us safe in the air, but they also want to be able to do their job. So here are 17 things that Flight Attendants want flyers, travelers and vacationers to know when they board the plane. 1. Flight Attendants are not your mother. 2. Don't blame the flight attendants for plane delays if it is out of their control. 3. The plane is just a glorified version of public transportation so everyone is treated equal. 4. Have your stuff ready when you board the plane so you do not keep people from boarding and blocking the aisle. 5. Have your order ready when the flight attendant comes by, you know it is chicken or pasta 6. Please be specific with your drink orders. Your regular coffee may not mean the same, say Coffee Black or Coffee 2 sugars one cream. 7. Parents have your kids' orders ready too 8. Diet soda isn't a thing, tell them Diet Coke or Diet Pepsi or Diet Sprite. 9. Tell the flight attendants when you get on the plane about any allergies you have. 10. If you need anything to help you take medicine bring it with you. The plane may not have food and they may not be allowed to bring you a drink for awhile. 11. Pay attention to the safety briefing. It could save your life. 12. If your neighbor rings the call bell and orders something order with them instead of waiting for the flight attendant to come back and send them on another trip back to the galley. 13. Give the flight attendants your trash. It makes a difference on the turnaround time. 14. Stay in your seat until the seat belt sign goes off. 15. Parents, please do not let your kids use the plane as a jungle gym. 16. Bring stuff to entertain your kids and snacks. 17. Parents, don't get drunk on the plane and expect flight attendants to entertain your children

1. Thank you. We legally aren't allowed to lift bags because if we get injured we don't get compensation since the door isn't closed.
2. YES. The other day the jet bridge broke and a guy missed his meeting and I got yelled at.
3. THANK YOU. I had a lady report because she didn't get her water when she wanted.
4. Literally I hate when pax stand in the aisle and ask to go the bathroom during boarding. Have everything ready.
5. Ugh I hate when pax ask what we have. Look at the card and listen to PAs. I hate asking pax do they want with coffee. I drink mine black
7. You nailed it.
8. Thankfully the only diet soda we have is diet coke
9. YES! Thankfully my pax have been good at this
10. Bring your own stuff, you're correct. I bring my own water.
11. I love when pax watch the demo. I should do what Kai did.
12. Yes
13. Thank god my airline has cleaners, but seriously they don't get much time especially on quick turns
14. YES. Ugh I've made these announcements so many times. I had a lady stand up yesterday during taxiing while we were waiting for the plane to pushback because we got in early.
15. THANK YOU SO MUCH.

All good information. Safety is critical and it seems this info is all common sense, but I have flown enough to realize that not everyone understands this. Thanks for the reminder.
Since safety is the #1 job for attendants, pilots, ATC (air traffic control, mechanics, etc. -WHY do CEOs get away with jamming a multitude of cramped seating and narrow aisle ways in a plane? Charging for baggage forces more to use carry-ons, thereby increasing weight, wait, and cramped quarters with personal bags. Evacuation during a crisis would be made more difficult, I would think. Hmm, profits before people, perhaps?
Indeed.

Hey! Thank you so much for this. I did know most of this, mostly because it's logical and common courtesy. However, the challenges is that some individuals don't care and it makes flights more challenging for everyone else. I believe your audience are not the individuals that would do these things, it's those that would never think to watch something like this. This being said, the service provider should provide all passengers with list of do's and don'ts? This way everyone is aware. Just a thought. Thanks again!

Sorry, my remarks had misprints. if you can't swing it! Don't bring it! If bag is too heavy for you, don't bring it. Or if your lucky find a strong individual as k them to put it up, in exchange for buying them a cocktail! also! Bring your own drink and food. Catering knows from past data about how many meals are served on that flight, and it's catered accordingly! Yes, we run out of food! Bring your own! I always do, can't depend on anyone but yourself! Thanks

This is a question to any flight attendant. I am going to France within a few months and due to a terminal breathing condition going high can affect my breathing. I will be wearing a pulse oximeter but due to low vision I can't monitor it and check my oxygen. Our flight attendants able to do that would they be able to come and check my oxygen periodically or should I consider bringing my nurse with me when I travel

Don't bring it, if you can't bring it! My flight attendant motto! If your a pax ask another for a like help and tell them you will buy them a cocktail as a thank you! Each plane has a schedule it adheres by. Planes don't wait. Planes travel almost 24 hrs. It goes here, to here, to here, and overnight somewhere. Fa's are there for your safety. We are trained for safety. Get em out, get em out NOW!

I will never understand people who stand up and block the aisle the second the plane stops. You're not going to de-plane any faster by standing there and waiting for aaalllllll the rows in front of you to exit, and you should know that NO ONE in the rows ahead are going to let you exit before them. So just sit the eff down and wait your turn.

I used to work for an airline-owned company where we got limited flight benefits. I always told new-hires in training that they needed to make sure that they were the nicest person that the gate agent or flight attendant met all day. I've been the person to get the last standby seat and crew meals on flights where no meal service was offered.

People who yell at service staff for things that are out of their control, think they are making the staff look bad and will fix things. The irony is, it only makes the yeller look ignorant and impulsive. Besides, why would you want to annoy those who could be the difference between you surviving or dying if tragedy strikes?
reply

Ok people, we understand, not everyone paid the exact same price. But from a flight attendants point of view, those in Economy paid economy, those in Business paid business and so on. So you get economy service or whatever service you paid for. You are equal to those in your class. Ok? Ok. Thanks for understanding.
