You would have to PAY ME a very large sum to visit New Orleans and even then I believe I would pass. And that stems from a documentary I saw on TV about New Orleans. The Federal Government had to send in squads of people to clean it up at one time because it was so lawless. And that was before Katrina! That's all I needed to see.

I Remember visiting there in the 90's from Australia I wandered off to a park near the quarter. Saw some guys there how asked me for money. I started off asking what it was like living here? Gave them some cigarettes and they showed me how to find the Louis Armstrong Statue. Think I got off lightly.

My wife and I love NOLA. We live in southern Illinois, take the Amtrak City of New Orleans and act like tourists. We know of a great place to stay just a few blocks from the French Quarter. Great food, great fun and most of all, great people. Our favorite place to eat is, well, you will find your own.

If it isn't Mardi Gras, don't wear beads. Take the stickers that the tour guides give you at the beginning of the tours off right after the tour is over. Please don't buy beads. You can catch as much as you want at the parades. He did a great job of telling you what to do and not do here in the city.

Yeah, a great place to visit. I mean, where else can you have your car illegally towed, asked where you got dem shoes, get your pockets picked, get propositioned by a gender confused prostitute and mugged, beaten and robbed all in the same night.

I was on a street car and a lovely African American gentleman started talking to me and then proceeded to point out all the sights and tell me about them. He didn't have to do it. He was so nice.

I've been added to 1 million since 1967 and you are spot-on! Only one point that I would educate you on. You said jambalaya but it's pronounced by people from New Orleans as jumbalya

Dont go in July or August I absolutely love NOLA! The first time I went was in the month of July for Essence fest and while the heat was insane. I had a blast! Everyone was so chill.

Dont pee in public does not apply during Mardi Gras, fyi. Be prepared to see people pissing, shtting or puking out in the open or more discretely.
