As any other place in the world, there are a lot of things that can be said about Trieste, but amongst those I consider most important I must stress multiculturality, as you already mentioned (we have places of worship of many religions - including what was until not long ago the largest synagogue in Europe) and one of the highest concentration of education and research institutions in the world. There also is the largest open to public cave in the world, the Grotta Gigante (giant cave, 3 castles (S. Giusto and Miramare that you mentioned but also Duino's castle is nearby, and once a year the largest regatta in the world for open sailboats (2000 boats, old, new, cruise, race, traditional or technological, from 5 to 30 meters all race together, the starting line is 2km long.
The city is so complex because it had been under control of different countries, my mother always laughs saying that her father was born Austrian, her older brother Italian and she American (yes after WW2 the city and its surroundings were governed for a long time by an allied government.
Whoever's going to get here, feel free to ask for suggestions: )

To be honest. I expected more. City looks like pension club. Ive never seen so many old ppl and like few young ones. I saw like 5 kids in city of 200. 000 ppl. Literally. 5 of them, I counted. Tho Seafront is freaking amazing and worth going there. But rest of the city is tipical Austrian arhitecture. Building are very dirty from smog. Tho rest of the city is clean. A lot of stuff are closed. The city is failing bad since the fall of Yugoslavia (Yugoslavs used to go here to shop western clothes and stuff. Tho it is still cheap. Like really cheap compare to other parts of Italy. Prices are kinda same as in Slovenia, Ljubljana. Tho 1kg of cherry was 8 eur almost gave me heartattack cosidering as a peasant Bosnia I can get them for free back in motherland. Sadly city is really dying. City would be much better if it was part of Yugoslavia-Slovenia. I think. What else. The streetsss. To many cars! Outside of 2 main squares and few parks u cant walk around. Barely. Or u gonna get crashed by car. Also to many coffe shops. More then ppl I swear. Tho coffe and cakes and croasants they sell are amazing.

I lived in Trieste literally all my life, I just moved out last year. I'm SO GLAD you made a video there! I agree with whatever you said. Trieste is gorgeous and definitely worth going there. The whole city center is walkable and it's a pleasure to wander around it.
The urban bus net is also excellent and will take you literally everywhere and there is a direct train taking you to the next airport.
It's only 1 our and a half by train from Venice so I always thought that if you crossed the ocean to get to Venice, it's really a small detour or a day trip.
There also are a lot of museums.

Trieste is a beautiful mix of European cultures, cuisines and architectures with Slovenian, German, Italian, Austrian, Slavic and Balkan. There is actually nowhere in Europe quite like it. I visited in 2013, it was very busy with Italian school holidays. We visited two castles, I cannot remember there names, one was white and on the coast. I would love to go back, and see Slovenia and see the caves also.

When did you actually record this video? It was definitely not recent or even 2020. Youre missing the statue of Gabriele D annunzio in piazza della Borsa. Also the construction in canal still ongoing, that ended a long time ago.

If you're in Trieste don't miss Miramare Castle and also a bit further out Duino castles, Rilke trail and the Grotta Gigante, those are must see places! Delfino Verde is a cool boat ride to see the whole of the coast

Trieste can be a little windy depending upon the season. I visited the Castle by the sea (a huge stately home that a man built for his wife) It is huge and gorgeous inside. with part of the grounds made into a park

It is supposed to warm up some next week, we currently can't travel out of FVG, but Trieste is in FVG. soooo we are going to hop on the Autostrada and go for a quick day trip since it is only a couple of hours away.

Trieste is the hidden secret of Northen Italy, mostly because people focus on Venezia. but I consider this city the most beautiful in the country, together with Venice. and I'm from Venice myself

Trieste is famous for its cold, gale-force Bora wind, and indeed, all manner of creatures and people have blown through the seaside city in Italy's far northeast, next to the Slovenian border.
