Described as the Las Vegas of the midwest (for the shows, not the gambling) Branson is a popular tourist destination with over the top tourist attractions set near some incredible natural beauty with the Ozarks nearby. Whether you are going to watch the fire works on the river, zipline, or see a show there is a lot to do in Branson, there is also a lot of things NOT to do in Branson, Missouri

Back in the early nineties, Branson had a huge boom, traffic was bumper to bumper all of the time. Many more back roads since then, has alleviated a lot of the stand still, backed up traffic. Only certain parts of 76, probably get a little more backed up than others. The strip is fun to drive, and if your vacation is pretty much planned. I would learn the routes from where your staying, to what your planned activities are, so you can get to your destinations quicker, but still plan on driving the strip. Ive lived in Branson off and on for almost 25 years, it is much like Gatlinburg, with way more shows and attractions. Springfield MO is only a half hour away, with the Battlefield Mall and great restaurants. Lots of places to visit here in the Ozarks.

This is a good video. I agree with everything he said.
BUT.
I would like to emphasize what some other commenters have already said.
Do NOT agree to attend any meetings or presentations in exchange for free ANYTHING!
Your vacation time with your family is limited and precious. It's common for them to tell you 45 minutes to an hour and it actually ends up being over 2 or 3 hours and they will not give you anything unless you stay through the end of the presentation. Got sucked in to one when I was younger and instantly regretted it, and have heard the same from many others with similar experiences. This is in my opinion the Number 1 DON'T when visiting Branson.

I like the video, I moved out to Arkansas from Catskills NY state, country living. I'm now on Bullshouls lake. less than a half hour from the Peel Ferry to Missouri. even the long route for Me is a solid hour to Branson, My favorite stop is Bass pro, Sports center on landing. they have many food, places, SALT GRASS IS GREAT ALL THE TIME CONSISTENT. YEAR AROUND. YOU Got to watch some food establishment, truly seasonable. and their helpers, cooks. they come and go. I agree with tourists traps. especially the show's. it's not Nashville, grand old operee. Lol or Las Vegas. probably I'd say more for Kids, seniors to go out relaxing. Good Spot on video. nice

Ok. i have lived hear for 27 years and i have seen tons of changes over the years. but I'll give you this i think your review of branson is spot on. it can be a pain in the ass with traffic. but for the most part the people who live here are really good people and would give you the shirt off their back. NO MATTER WHAT COLOR OR RELIGION OR PARTY YOU BELONG TO. having said that. a big thank you to all of you that come here. you keep us alive. and for that i say have fun and come on over.

Utilize 465/Shepard of the Hills Parkway if you can. Runs parallel to 76 to the north. If you dig the Beverly Hillbillies, you can see their 1921 truck at Ralph Foster Museum in the College of the Ozarks. Free to see. I paid about $10 a few years ago and was able to get in and have my picture taken in it.

I live here and traffic is not bad unless its peak season. There are many wonderful museums and shows here so dont get scared from this video. Also we ARE the LIVE show capital of the USA, we surpassed Las Vegas last year with that. We do not have casinos however and there is a lot nicer people here.

Went to visit the Springfield Bass Pro for the 1st time. As soon as we stepped in we were baited by a young female and she dumped us off to a guy trying to sell us a Branson package for $99 but it was some timeshare BS. They were very pushy and it pissed me off

My dad took us to Branson, but it was mainly for mini golf, the aquarium, and Silver Dollar City. All that extra stuff was expensive, and the exterior of the building seemed more exciting than what was in it. Namely the Titanic museum and Ripleys.

Don't visit. It's like going back in time to before women could vote. Most racist town I've ever been to and I'm white. The people are fake nice. Bless their hearts. Watch out for the food too.

A great non-touristy restaurant is Branson Cafe downtown. That's where the locals go. What's great is the same folks continue to work there. One of the servers has been there for 40 years.
