Hey there Wolter!
You are SPOT ON with everything you said.
I am a Galveston Local and I LOVE IT HERE!
My Partner and I have lived here since 2011 and we have been Blessed here having me Soo Many People and Tourists here. We have Rented houses here on the island and have become an integral part of the East End Historic District Community.
There is a plentiful amount of inexpensive Air B&B rentals Here. So much less expensive than a hotel especially if you have a group of people or a Large Family and also less expensive if you are coming here during an event. If Galveston becomes a place for you that you are interested in Moving to, or considering attending College here. The people are very considerate of the enormous bounty of Students living on budgets.
Also as far as another interesting thing to do, there are Segway tours that allow you to get close to some of the historical homes and it's just fun to ride a Segway anyhow. there is a tour that you can do that takes you around to all of the Carved Tree Sculptures around the entire Island. If you come here you should Definitely make a stop at the Galveston Island Tourist center located at 2328 Broadway. Lots of pamphlets of fun things to do here. I absolutely love your Charisma about this little Jewel of an Island and how informative you are and the knowledge you shared.

Hello there! Happy Thanksgiving.
Well I am a islander and yes the beach is nice but if you are in the beach or visiting today? On Thanksgiving ( WE HERE CALL THEM THE BIGGEST LOOSERS ) REALLY? Why? You have no one and can't find anyone to share this time with SAD. We all say this Everytime we see and RV CAMPER especially on Christmas. Stop being a looser and stay home if you have one then okay but they do mark visitors by camera and ticket time $500 and up. So don't be a looser and get out of our island.

Don't leave anything on the beach overnight, even if you are staying on the west end at a beach house - the city is AWESOME about clearing litter. including your expensive litter!
DO look at allllll the AirBnBs available, not just waterfront/my own place. One of my favorite stays ever was in a 1905 Victorian (with some cool craftsman carry overs. The original claw foot bath (and VERY vintage) showerhead was so amazing I took showers and baths each time.

As a resident who lives there since 1993, Id advise you find the crypt entrance. Underground crypt is an amazing place, and no its not a legend. If you can find the entrance you can be blown away. First and only hint, there was a factory that used to make a sandwich filler and in its basement is a door that leads to the crypts. Prove me wrong, just take lights, extra batteries and plenty of survival gear, it gets easy to get lost.

We are staying this week in Jamaica Beach with sons 14 and 18 year olds. We are having a relaxing week. The weather is mild we are wearing light shirts and jeans not even wearing jackets or socks this week. We went out for dinner last night 25 December. We walked on the beach 24 December. Fishing off the timber porch at our air b n b drove around looking at murals on houses and garage doors.

The man who founded my town in Missouri, who is also buried there, used to own San Luis Pass. His name was Moses Austin, his son was Stephen Austin. In the 90s some people from Austin Texas came to my town and tried to dig Moses' body up and take it to Texas where they felt he belonged (Crazy, they didn't succeed and now it has concrete over it. I'm sitting on San Luis pass right now!

Galveston holds a dear place to my heart. Coming from Houston, fishing with my daddy my entire life. Galveston, Kemah, Pelican Island, Texas City.
Also, make sure if you are a thrill seeker, take the ghost tours. Not only is Galveston a historic city, it's also one whole cemetery thanks to the Great Hurricane of 1900. Thousands died there and I promise, you won't regret it.

If you have to feed the seagulls, then ride the car ferry. Feed those birds at the back of the boat. You will probably see some dolphins playing in the waves the ferry makes.
At Gaido's restaurant 37th and Seawall, walk in and see the statue feeding seagulls there might be bread left there to feed the birds.

Don't forget to stop at the statue on the Seawall dedicated to the memory of the
6, 000 or more people who lost their lives when the Great Storm of 1900 hit the Island.
Look up at the statue and, like everyone else, say. What the hell were they thinking? .

The only thing to avoid in food is mid-upper price, the top end is great for the price and the low end of price is better than it should be, but the stuff pretending to be upper class but reasonably priced is hot garbage and expensive
