El Salvador: 10 Things That Shock Tourists in El Salvador - Wolters World LitaZMojo tejaswoman: LA PALMA CHALATENANGO you did a wonderful job, don't get me wrong, but I can't believe you left out La Palma! Such lovely artisan work everywhere, and Fernando Llort teaching people his semi-primitive style saved an entire town plus much of the region around it. Also Ilobasco and their adorable _sorpresa_ hidden-scene ceramics. I pick up a few more _sorpresas_ every time I go through there on the way to visit my sister-in-law in the mountains. Lastly, note that one way to get away from the mosquitoes (and other biting insects like gnats) is to get to higher elevations where it's naturally cool throughout the day just be aware they _do_ have chiggers (aka redbug or _coloradilla_ in Spanish) at those elevations, so read up on how to reduce your exposure.

Gangs violence are there anywhere in the US, same in many other countries, but they know who they fight with and why, you don't see them because they maintain themselves in the shadows, tourists should not worried about them, enjoy the beauty of what el salvador offers to you which is very extended in a diversity, from volcanous, lakes, mountains and beaches.

Really, you called people from El Salvador, Salvadorians or Salvadorean or even worst El Salvadorian. What the hell! You dont call someone from Honduras Hondurian or Hondurian they are called Honduran! Please keep the Dorian and the Dorean for People from Ecuador who are Ecuadorian or Ecuadorean.

By 2021, things have improved in El Salvador. The advance in overall safety is due to the work done by the current administration. I went not too long ago, and didnt feel unsafe at all. Gangs are gone or almost depleted. Now days policemans are even persecuting people abusing pets.
