Alaska is the ultimate spot for adventure in the United States. The state is massive and has so much to explore ranging from backcountry adventures and wildlife to large towns and great restaurants. We took 8 days to explore the state and to drive from Anchorage to Denali to Fairbanks and back. Along the way we had some bucket list adventures like hiking in Denali, exploring a glacier, seeing the Into the Wild movie bus, and soaking in hot springs. Here is the full 8-day adventure and

I was in Alaska in 1962. We drove all the way from N. J to Niagra Falls and crossed into Canada. We drove across Canada (camping all the way) up into the Yukon (Yellowknife) into Alaska. Went to Fairbanks, North Pole, down to Anchorage (biggest store there then was Jonas Bros(a store and museum combined. We were in Wasilla and Talkitna also. Went to Valdez and Homer. We also drove up to Wonder Lake and Denali Park (Mt. McKinley Park. Saw the lower mountains, camped overnight in a rainstorm The next morning the clouds broke and we saw Denali. it towers over the lower mountains! Magnificent! We're in Valdez the year before the earthquake and tsunami that destroyed most of the town. Back then the main town had dirt roads, hitching posts and wooden sidewalks. At Homer we went onto Homer Spit and caught a king crab when the tide went out. We took it to the local cannery and brought home tons of crab. Were in Saldotna Saw many totems, caught lots of salmon, walked on glaciers, saw millions of beautiful fireweeds, marmots and yes, many moose. Ate mooseburgers for lunch. Drove back home through idaho, Montana, the Dakotas, Minnesota and across back to N. J. The trip of a lifetime, 11, 000 miles give or take.

Wow Josh! What an incredible resource! Thank you, your dad too! What a duo!
In consideration of your inspiring video, my husband and I will be going to Alaska and using your video as a helpful guide. We're staying 10 days. May 3 will be our arrival date in Anchorage. I see that that the Denali buses will only be going to mile market 42. is this worth it? Definitely Matanuska Glacier, which tour did you use?
Where would you have explored if you had two more days? We are very adventurous, & physically hardy. Love the outdoors, all aspects!
Any help /ideas etc. would be so appreciated.
Warmly, Maria

If you ever go back to Alaska and if the weather permits, definitely take the glacier flight to Denali from Talkeetna. I flew in a K2 DeHavilland Otter to land on a glacier where they let you out on the ice for 20 minutes. From there, you can look out over an endless sea of mountain peaks marching off to infinity. On my trip, I rode shotgun on the way back alongside the pilot with my iPad in the window, filming as we flew between mountain peaks. It was the most National Geographic experience I've ever had. Well worth the price.

Great video! I was born and lived in Alaska forever. Watching this video brought back a flood of memories. When I was young, some 40-50 years ago the glaciers were much closer. We used to travel the road from Anchorage to Glenallen quite often as my auntie lived there. It is beautiful. I live on the Kenai Peninsula and it amazes me how fast traffic travels. I often have lunch at one of the pullouts just to soak in the beauty. I will be sharing this video with people that ask me about Alaska. Thanks for creating it.

I can no longer travel due to physical restrictions. I watch your videos instead. They're not as good as actually being there, but it's the best I can do. I love your videos, and I love the memories you're making with your dad. Those will stay with you forever. Thank you very much.
