When I was 18 I visited Japan with my Mom, so we could visit our relatives, especially my grandfather. He had only met me once before, when my Mom and I went to Japan when I was 11, and he wanted to see me again before he passed away. My grandparents lived in Sapporo, and during the first trip we took the ferry from Honshu to Hokkaido, but the 2nd time we took this train.
Just as we entered the tunnel, my Mom said -You know, a lot of people died making this tunnel do to all of the cave ins. It had something to do with the type of rock I think. I don't know why I'm telling you this, but I just thought you might want to know-, and started reading her book. What. The. Hell? I spent the entire time counting the seconds between the lights of the side maintenance tunnels, so if something happened, I would know which tunnel would be closest in case of an emergency. It's been 30 years, and I still do not let her forget scaring the hell out of me for saying that.

Santa Claus has come to Hakodate. apparently for the hamburger and curry. Makes perfect sense. :D I really enjoyed this journey! Your video came up because I was trying to find out about the history of the train tunnel. because the Shirakawa village showed up on my Windows 10 login screen. :D -You are fine just the way you are-. What a great sign to find!
I so agree - the feats of engineering to tunnel under water and through mountains is so amazing. Norway is another country that has some jaw-dropping engineering through mountains and the North Sea. I'm struck by the aesthetic beauty and cleanliness of the cities in the video. And the Nature - wah! The birds on the evening gondola wires - cool! Love the Hitchcock reference - lol!
At 25: 00 - I swear, that train car looked like a video game. Super cool!

Im here confused. This guy seems to be from u. s. a however, he gets all fascinated by the tunnels under water yet in the states like new York, underwater tunnels are abundant especially for trains to go from one borough to another. Mainly Manhattan. No offense to him but I wonder where he's from if from the states? Lol because that technology is old news in ny

Question: Hello Robby and friends, This is a great video that I have viewed a few times now. It has a very tasteful soundtrack. Can you please let me know what artists are playing the piano jazz at minute 13: 00-14: 00? It would be greatly appreciated! Happy Travels. (Edit) GOT IT THANKS TO YOUR CREDITS! Cheers,

I really cannot wait to try to go to Sapporo on my next trip! It looks like an adventure, and I was always intrigued and kind of obsessed with the idea of riding the shinkansen through an underwater tunnel! That and the station down there that's closed off sounded interesting to get a glimpse of.

The North of Japan isn't the most popular touristic destination in the country compared to the central part of Japan but that's why it's so exciting to watch videos from there! Because it isn't so explored and has many interesting and unexpected things to see and do.

Dude I'd love to do this, I'm so jealous I didn't go before the pandemic. Idk why just sitting in the train and watching a whole world pass you by is just mesmerizing. It was fun in Seattle, bet it's even better to go all through Japan
