You should not judge just by visiting Poland 1 week. and see people smile. you have to see the everyday life. I live in Poland 5 years. and they definitely do NOT smile. they have always a negative view of life. That's a pity. because Poland is a very beautiful place: )

Well, I am visiting Poland ones a year due to my heritage, I do agree Polish people don't smile to strangers but if they know each other they're very friendly.
In fact by seaside weather not always is good but central or mountain areas are usually very warm.

Well, people do smile in Poland but not to total strangers. When a total stranger smiles to them, they consider it to be a little strange, but sometimes they do smile back. Generally, Polish people are very friendly and helpful to foreigners.
